    Does anyone else partake?

Is it just my senses or does every indoor sports arena smell of sweat/cigarette/dencorub?

    2007-02-05 15:42:19.0

    And shoes and socks

    2007-02-05 15:43:58.0

Removing those from the feet would surely clear the room.

    2007-02-05 15:52:18.0

Our team are about 5 wins and 7 losses this season.

    2007-02-05 15:53:18.0

and we strictly pkay with shoes on

    2007-02-05 15:53:55.0

    How has your form been?

    2007-02-05 16:01:21.0

    I am an allrounder.

    2007-02-05 16:04:01.0

I am rubbish at both bowling and batting.

    2007-02-05 16:04:14.0

You would if you saw us play. I have some serious concerns for the teams we have beaten.

    2007-02-05 16:09:29.0

    Oh dear....

I'm starting to share those concerns too...

    :P

    2007-02-05 16:12:14.0

Hi, Ruski73½ long time no chat:)

    2007-02-06 00:34:46.0

Son and d-in-law both play for some team around the Beenleigh area. Do you ever get to play down there?

    2007-02-06 00:35:36.0

Well if it isn't my old friend 60/40 AKA 4 and 20.

    How are things with you?

Had forgotten about the 73.5 thing. Very funny. 73 and 5/12 would actually be more accurate.

Not played in the Been. Currently playing in Wynnum.

Got done 100 odd to 50 odd Tuesday night. Managed to meek out a fine 30 did my partner in crime and I.

    2007-02-07 04:42:13.0

    Not bad Ruski!

I would have thought that our Mr G could be getting a tad too old for strenuous exercise:P

    2007-02-07 15:11:28.0

There is now a constant click in the right knee. More so when walking down a set of stairs or carrying a child on shoulders on any type flat or incline.

There is also a serious oxygen requirement at around the halfway mark of the third over out of four.

Some type of issue involving a constant numbing pain in the left thumb.

Otherwise generally in poor to average shape.

    2007-02-07 18:09:56.0

presume you have finished with family building:P

    2007-02-08 00:23:20.0

that's procreation not bricks and mortar

    2007-02-08 00:24:33.0

Funny you should mention that. Yeah, no more. Youngster was 2 today BTW.

It so happens that I nearly saved a few bucks on the vasectomy op on Tuesday night. You see, I choose not to wear "protection" when batting (or fielding for that matter). Generally back my ability to keep the ball out of the Netherlands if you know what I mean. However, I was squared up by a beauty. The trick is to accept that you're gonna wear one early and manouvre well enough to wear it anywhere but the bollocks. Got a nice bruise on the very top of the left leg as a result. And 1 leg bye to the total.

    2007-02-08 04:30:09.0

Tis a dangerous sport. Son has a permanently damaged back and a technicolor eye at present. Daughter-in-law has split webbing on left hand.

BTW "Youngster was 2 today" ...not is?  :O

    2007-02-08 15:23:59.0

Youngster was 2 at 7:38pm. Now he is 2.0003.

    2007-02-08 16:34:34.0

    LOL

    2007-02-08 21:23:54.0

Missed last weeks loss. Vital clash tonight needing a win to keep us within striking distance of a top four finish (currently second to last so obviously any sort of win woll do).

Thinking of sending down an over of off spinners if we get the ball second.

    2007-02-19 23:25:14.0

    Good luck Ruski!

    2007-02-19 23:31:27.0

    Cheers Crazy One.

Cricket is the real winner in any case. (Anticipating a loss)

    2007-02-19 23:33:39.0

    Hurrah for cricket!

    2007-02-19 23:34:40.0

Cricket was the winner as suspected

    2007-02-20 04:55:10.0

    Ha.

    Was about 115 to 55 or th-abouts.

    2007-02-20 04:57:46.0

Well you may have only won by 60 runs, but a win is a win.^_^'

    2007-02-20 19:32:44.0

Was actually a 60 run loss Andro.

    2007-02-20 22:27:08.0

R73 and batting partner contributed 35 to that so was happy with that.

    2007-02-20 22:27:31.0

Was actually a 60 run loss Andro.

      Shhhhh.

     Well done Rusky, old chap!!

    2007-02-20 22:32:45.0

We gave away an average age of about 35 to 17, so old chap is rather operative in this case.

    2007-02-20 22:46:16.0

    HAHAHAHAHAHA

    2007-02-21 00:17:37.0

It's on again tonight. 7:15pm Preston Road, Wynnum West, if any one wants to come along and join us for a XXXX afterwards.

Apparantly the last game till the finals. Look like finishing an admirable 7th out of 8 (provided we win tonight) but in any case we will be playing sudden death from the outset in the "King of the Shit" playoffs next week.

    2007-02-26 20:24:02.0

    A cheer squad for ya

    2007-02-26 20:36:07.0

The best part about finishing 7th is we go down a division for next season. The worst part is we are already in that division.

    2007-02-26 20:38:06.0

We are to Wynnum Indoor Cricket what Padbury United FC are to English Football.

    2007-02-26 20:53:16.0

    never heard of Padbury United...

    :P

    2007-02-26 20:59:03.0

    You have now.

    2007-02-26 21:01:19.0

    hahahah good point

    2007-02-26 21:11:12.0

    It was a tremendous victory 132 - 128.

    2007-02-27 04:04:19.0

     On'ya, Ruski.:O

    2007-02-27 04:09:44.0

    Good stuff!!!

    Congrats

    2007-02-27 04:43:03.0

My beloved brother was ice cool on the last ball. The opposition needed to knock him over to win. All he had to do was shoulder arms at anything that was not straight but the ball he got was an absolute cherry, just short of a good length, pitching on middle and leg and moving away from the right hander. He had to play at it. His defensive game is ordinary at best, but he had a fan at it and it beat the outside edge by a whisker, cleared the top of off stump by a hairs breadth and into the keepers gloves. Fabulous.

    2007-02-27 14:53:22.0

I think you missed your calling as a commentator

    2007-02-27 15:31:16.0

I'm definately a wasted talent of some sort in here. Here being the current employ.

    2007-02-27 17:47:02.0

You could consider being Tangler's inhouse commentator:P

    2007-02-27 17:50:49.0

New season starts tonight. The only time we are on top of the table even if it is shared with a few others.

    2007-03-13 00:17:07.0

The playing roster has changed a little since last season. ie. we have lost two players, one of which could bat, bowl leggies and keep wicket. One vacancy filled, still an opening for the other. Tonight will be very interesting.

    2007-03-13 00:18:33.0

I'd give you a hand if I wasn't such an old bugger.:-!

    2007-03-13 00:24:24.0

Would be a hop step and a jump for you too Andro.

    2007-03-13 00:33:01.0

^ referring to your geographical proximity not your bowling action.

    2007-03-13 00:33:44.0

I'm an ex quickie. (very ex)

    2007-03-13 04:50:20.0

Btw, I drove down Preston Rd about 6pm. (didn't see any Ruski's though).:O

    2007-03-13 04:53:20.0

Twas there at 8:30 Andro. Gone done by 10 for the record.

    2007-03-13 05:44:50.0

    Did you win??

    2007-03-13 05:55:06.0

Had to chase 111. Was all set up for the win with the last pair left to get 12 from their 4 overs. They got 1 instead. I rate it among the best chokes I have seen or been involved with.

    2007-03-13 06:00:31.0

It's been a while, so here's the much anticipated indoor cricket update. Not sure how long the season has progressed but I can be sure that we've had two or three wins, a draw and too many losses to list. Ruski73 has had to keep the last few games and is rather ordinary. I gloved three in a row the other night so I turned to the ump and asked if there was an encouragement award for improvers. Dropped a catch the next ball. Choked with the bat also. Tonight we have a player returning from a year long absence. His daughter is almost 1 year old. He is also rather good. Exciting times ...

    2007-09-10 17:50:32.0

Good on you Ruski, I must try and get along and have a look one of these Tuesday night's.

    2007-09-10 23:45:19.0

    8:30 tonight

    2007-09-10 23:48:40.0

Can't do it tonight. (prior commitment) Frown

    2007-09-11 00:13:20.0

Played a side that we've never beaten before and rolled them for about 90 and replied with 150. It was the sweetest win in the short history of the Dirty Thirties.

    2007-09-11 06:53:44.0

    Good on you Ruski!!

Three in a row now. Four weeks till finals. Have the momentum and holding down third spot.

    noice!!XP

    Well done Ruski!

    2007-09-25 04:21:38.0

    four on the trot.

    2007-10-02 06:18:39.0

I forgot to mention last week we extended the winning stretch to five after winning on forfeit. Now we've got em all scared. Going for six tonight. Previously unheard of in any sporting team I've been apart of..

    2007-10-15 20:05:54.0

    OOoooo

    Noice Ruski!! Well done!

    2007-10-15 21:51:26.0

    I've been apart of..

    Grammatical error or intentional?

    2007-10-17 03:12:03.0

    What happened last night Ruski?

    2007-10-17 03:41:32.0

    Grammatical and a win

    2007-10-17 05:53:09.0

Doing well, Russ...you ready to take on Beenleigh yet?

    2007-10-17 05:58:19.0

Probably only in an exhibition match at the moment. There are a few more hoops to jump through yet. We are currently team no 1 ... of Tuesday night 4th division. Should we make the final, win or lose, we will go up to 3rd division.

    2007-10-17 20:01:33.0

Wicket keeping + no ability to do so = a broken nose and a shiner

    2007-12-19 01:16:49.0

Ruski73 has had to keep the last few games and is rather ordinary.

    Scars to prove it now.

    2007-12-19 01:18:21.0

    You ok?

    2007-12-19 02:16:02.0

A little sore and uglier, otherwise fine.

    2007-12-19 02:42:53.0

    What happened exactly?

    2007-12-19 02:50:02.0

^ Ha. First game back tonight after zmas break. What happened last game was we were getting done badly and I had the gloves on, and looking rather disinterested. On comes Zac for a bowl, a lefty and fucking fast thank you very much. To make matters worst another lefty was on strike. In comes a short one, catches a fair bit of the shoulder of the bat. Not enough of an edge to dismiss A. Symonds, but just enough to deviate and smash yours truly in the eye and nose. The eye was shut and bruised for a few days but the honker took most of the blow. There was blood everywhere. It is still sore.

Tonight I decided to bowl right arm off spinners to honour the great Bharjji Singh. After watching Bharj and Murali, I have modified the action and am now turning them a mile. Great fun.

    2008-01-08 03:31:47.0

I'm sorry, I know you got hurt, but your story-telling is just hilarious!

    2008-01-08 03:34:16.0

All I could think of was Boonie and the fact that he wouldn't go down. So I stood and took it, went off for an over or two to wash up then came back on and bowled my second over. I had to ask which pitch to aim at. Ned (his name is actually Kelly) said go for the middle one.
