Forgot to put a post in here when I created the thread. Silly me - I've now forgotten most of the bullshit details and since I couldn't be arsed to look at cricinfo I'll just say it was a typical Trent-Bridge Test with a bowling wicket. Great cricket to watch, despite the low score, and England gave the Pakistanis a good hiding. Jimmy Anderson got 11 wickets with his swing bowling. I doubt if that can be extrapolated to a climate with more than 5 minutes of sunshine in every 2 hours type of climate and dry flat pitches that will be around for the Ashes down under though...
Long term prediction for Brisbane Test is 35 degree days, killer humidity and afternoon storms.
Couldn't give a shit about the other Tests.
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
You two...
Lots of swing then... Lets hope that Hilfie is on form.
Next Test for Eng/Pak starts tomorrow at Edgbaston (idiot Brummie's, there definitely should be an 'e' in Edge) and it's pissing down. Another rude shock for the Pak's I think.
Draw!!
Always thought there was an e missing there. Was on the topic of acronyms last night and realised anything with the word Queensland hidden in it is fucked up. Classic example. Qantas. We say Kwontas but it should be pronounced Cuntas.
Qasco. Qassmac. To name a few more.
That's be funny.... VirginBlue and Cuantas
I think it was Cuntas Dek...
Meh, same diff....
Before that we had the domestic carrier Ansett before it went bust. Better known as chance it.
Oh yeah, them. Never flew them, which is probably a good thing
I racked up a few frequent miles on chance it. They disappeared into the ether when they went arse up.
First professional job. I was the field lacky and the boss always put me on Chance It. He was in the fuckin awesome Club or whatever its called. Loved it though. Flew all over Qld. Gladstone, Rocky, Townsville, Mt Isa etc. Took ages to build up the miles. And a minute for them to crumble. Could have had a return to New Zealand. Wankers.
Oh oh, that reminds of a rant I've been building up to. So I've been flying Qantas to and fro, racked up a nice amount of points on their Frequent Flyer. Which one needs to pay to join btw. Ridiculous
Anyways, the last time I looked at my points balance, I thought - a ha, should have a nice haul for a flight or upgrade to Singapore. Have an upcoming trip there. Look at the qantas site to check prices, and they're all this weirdo JetStarPrice or something. With the specific condition that you can't use your points on them. And this isn't for just the cheap economy flights. I can't use or claim points for any seat flying to Singapore
W T F
I fuckin hate Qantas
Ok, I go sleep nao
The second Test finished yesterday. Pakistan won the toss and their captain was thinking of Ricky Ponting when he decided to bat first on a seaming and swinging wicket. England had them all out before tea on the first day for 72. England were all out for 251 and then the wicket improved no-end - ie. no swing seam or spin until the end of day 3. Pakistan were all out in the second over of day 4 for 291. England then chased down 118 and won by 9 wickets not long after lunch on the 4th day. Ripping stuff for a neutral. Pakistan were totally useless in the field and should have held England for similar scores to them. They dropped every England batsman about 4 times each but their bowling and batting was at times, world-class. I hope they improve a bit for the last two tests at the Oval and Lords, England could do with a bit of a tough time under their belts before the bear pit down under in November...
Former captain Zaheer Abbas said Tuesday he feared for the future of cricket in Pakistan, saying bad administration had led the sport towards disaster.
That's what they all say...
And I can't believe they managed to beat Somerset in an ODI warm-up game. What with Marcus Trescothick playing as well...
Maybe they were... 'motivated'...
Maybe Tresco was got at? ![]()
Stresco would be stressing out a bit too much for those kinds of dealings.
hahahahaha
Anyway England gave the Paks a good beating at Cardiff. It was worth the travel, despite the rain delaying play.
Well, they were down on morale n all that.....
Went to watch Essex being beaten by Somerset at Taunton today... The semi-finals of a UK county cricket league/knock-out and I expected it to be a good match. I suppose it was, except that Essex lost by a 100 or so runs. It's a pity that Marcus Trescothick has some sort of psychological problem, Him and Strauss would be (probably) the most devastating pair of openers in the world...
BTW. Tressie opens for Somerset...
Do you mean he really has a problem, or was that a jibe of some sort?
If he wasn't so devestated he might be devestating ...
Once again Ruski, I dunno whether to laugh or cry at your words
Ruskie is just practising talking like a twatt - and I must say he is bloody good at it...![]()
Dent is a tosser
Getting warmed up for the ashes I see
Have ticket for Day 1 Test 1. Stoked. Will probably also take the day off for Day 2 just in case I/we end up at Herschel St for the night.
Oh nice!
just in case I/we end up at Herschel St for the night.
Petrie Tce has better accomodation..(or so I'm told)..
And they managed to chase down 295 to beat Pakistan (without Tressie). At least the Paks are turning up to play at last...
Stressie
Oh! I thought they'd left England already. Guess it was just the accused then
So that would leave and 2 players, a physio and the bus driver to play the matches. Though I'm told the latter is also under investigation.
Saw a program on Pakistan last night. Woeful sort of world we live in when the dodgy bastards in the national cricket team get more coverage than the millions displaced by the floods. That's really fucked actually. I don't want to run down their beliefs whatever they might be but seriously ... these people more or less started with fuck all and are now left on a roadside or swollen riverbank with even less and all they can say is "God will do this and God will do that ... ". Yeah right. Meanwhile the minister for foreign affairs in an Armarni suit sits in his marble palace and tells us the incredible effort the Government is putting towards the relief. Don't break a sweat mate. And during this lack of action the militant groups rename themselves and turn up for the needy and throw then a crumb or two and end up the heros. If it's the will of God or Allah or whatever his name is that we all turn to Islam then they're going to have to do a better job at selling it to us.
Well, it's not just them now is it?
Compare the covered they've gotten vs other recent natural disasters as well as the cricket stuff.
And that thing they say that you're getting mad at - my mother says it to me every time we talk. It shits me, but that's not the point.
The point is, it's not an Islamic thing. It's a religious thing. That thing called faith I believe
Yep. Where the fuck is Bono and Geldoff now?
I suppose they don't see the opportunity here.
Not sure CD sales are high enough in that area...
Yeah I don't want to point out Islam as the bad bad. But it is a good example of blind faith.
Yep. The type that is often required
Apparently the number of deaths directly from the flood was about 1600. Make what you will of that. But I reckon you can lob a few zeros on the end of that once the flow on effects have kicked in.
For sure
Here's an idea for Geldoff ... Survivor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It makes sense. For startes it is very picturesque up in those hills so the cimematographers will have a field day. On top of that the drama unfolds as we spend 35 days and nights trying to ideally position yourself for military aid food drops while avoiding water bourne disease and attacks from the Taliban at the same time. A ratings winner.
I am always struck down by Mrs Dent for being a racist. I don't have a racist bone in my body, lots of my friends originate overseas - and apparently that is the opening line of a racist, according to Mrs Dent.
Well that may well be the case when talking about this problem in Pakistan because I don't for one billionth of a second reckon that any of them have the wherewithal to sort it out in the next few years.
It may be the will of their god that it will, or it won't, but one thing is for certain. Us infidels will be left with the bill to feed half the starving population of Islam. And they will still have their radical training schools to nurture their suicide bombers and other general nut-cases. Is that because they have faith?
And talking about faith. I was convinced from the outset that England would beat Pakistan in this summer series (summer as in the northern summer) and that faith held. England won the last ODI by 121 runs against an in-form Pakistan team. England went in first and apart from a good innings by that twat Strauss, then Morgan (two of our overseas players) then a nice cameo by Bresnan found themselves restricted to 255 after 50.
Pakistan started their batting really well, very quickly getting to about 70 for no wickets and were well ahead of England on the run-rate. They were then destroyed by a superb Broad - Swann bowling attack and spot-on fielding by Colly (who also got a wicket) to be all out with an 121 run deficit.
I heard Ian Botham on the radio this morning and he is; "Confident that England have everything in place to return from Australia next January with the little urn" and that he reckons; "A score of 2-2 is probably on the cards". Who am I to argue with the old master?
hmmm.... maybe there is a god....
5-0
Eng-Aust
Yes Arfur, but Both-of-em is paid to comment and would be sacked if he said otherwise..![]()
2-2 sounds like the Eng batting score after they've faced their first two overs of the first test.
LOL! If Ian Botham's employers ever had it in mind to sack him for criticising or trashing the England cricket team, they have already missed hundreds of opportunities to do so.
Funnily enough, his predictions and assessment of Australia and England with regards to expected performance and which one of them will win the Ashes have only been incorrect once since he's given up the game. He predicted 2-0 to Australia in 2007 but claimed afterwards that he expected 3 of the tests to be abandoned due to weather. He did get the overall result correct though...
Hmmm, I still think Ruski's got it right..![]()
Problem is that old (or rather young) CP can't see for the corks dangling from his hat...
You're a dickhead and you can't see for nuts ... dangling from your forehead.
Have we won yet?
And andro, I'm avoiding the F1 topic for now. Haven't watched the race. Will be in soon....ish!
I eagerly await your arrival on F1 with bated breath, oh krazee one..![]()
I see you've kept up with your ROYFRED training sessions CP
BOB KATTER IS MY HERO
HAHAHAHAHAHHA
OMD, I'd forgotten all about that!
