hey elias you mentioned anne talked about gov. funding... are we talking about the same government?

what funding did she talk about?

are we talkin about the Comet grant??

I missed half the presentation, but what I heard was this

1) Anna, repeatedly, saying how the NSW state government is super keen to fund you. She says it's scary how keen they are! They send case ofices around to your place even, to assess. People drew it back to federal, but she kept saying the state government is bustling to support innovation (reason: creates jobs)

2)some guy said he applied for the telstra broadband content fund and said it was really hard. the dude that did the planet-earth.org presentation then said he actually got through! he said that the secret is reading the details - it actually was something to do with infratrusture funding and not content.

Actually laurence (from Cylo), had a few issues regarding funding from the government... and you are right... funding is available for infrastrucutre and not for content (and that i believe includes R&D as well)... in his case, the cost of all prototyping (moulding, etc for the mouse) was funded by the grant (I think it was the Comet grant)...  but also expect to have a good business case and market research before you are serious about applying for the grant....  would be interested to hear what experiences others have had...

Hi everyone - I think the talk you are referring to was the one that I (Steve) started called"The Tyrany on Distance" - talked about a lot of stuff - but funding was a hot topic. I was the one that had applied for Telstra Broadband grant (and failed) it was the guy that gave the planet-earth.org presentation was the person that had successfully got one.

I'm planning on putting together some funding links together on my blog page once I get myself organised.... http://dalts.com - nothing there yet - hope to get blogging again this week. In the meantime  feel free to email any funding info to me and I'll collate it all. My number 1 thing I took away from BarCamp was that I should blog and read blogs more.
