OK, quick competition for a bit of fun.
If you invite a startup to use Tangler for a forum, and they link from their site to the group, then tell us that you invited them here.
The Tanglerer who invites the group that ends up with the most new subscribers and at least 200 messages will get an iPod Shuffle. A new subscriber is someone who isn't registerd on May 9th, 07.
The count will be made on June 1st, 2007 by me. My decision is final.
Go!
OK, how to invite them;
-----
Hey, you guys should create a forum in Tangler for your users to give you feedback. It's free and easy to setup.
The advantages are:
1. Instant notification and real time - never miss an opportunity to talk to a user.
2. Easy adding of video and images - screenshots, mock ups and screencasts.
3. Be in a network instead of isolated - share users and ideas with other startups.
It's free to be a part of it. You just need to create a group and then link to it from your site. We'll help you get it going.
Coming soon is the option to embed the discussion in your own site and still be connected to the network.
To see one of the groups in action go to;
http://www.tangler.com/group/5556/topic/11391
The 'home' page for the community is;
http://web20.tangler.com/
Let me know if you're interested in being involved.
Cheers,
(insert your own name here...)
Hmm....what happens if more than one person introduced the same startup? Just playing devils advocate here... ![]()
Embedding the discussion in our own sites could be good - I'vejust launched a small beta, and found I've received a number ofcomments on my site's blog - but I'm not sure how many of thosecommenters have come over to Tangler to read and post here. I'velinked through, but their first point of contact is my site. Tohave Tangler there up front might create greater transfer in. Andonce they are in, they can be lured over to the Tangler siteproper, and then explore.
One thing possibly - we site owners are control freaks, and sothe only downside might be a change from the look and feel of theowner's site to the look and feel of the embedded discussion forum.In any case - bring it on!
All that you mention Simon, is on the list....![]()
Very very high up the list actually... we're looking at this at themoment. Other things to make it work super duper we think are:
1. inline registration - no separate screen/steps and no emailverification (users will never leave the group).
2. plugins for popular blogging platforms (with auto linking totangler topics and reflection of your posts in the tanglergroup).
3. css skinning of groups.
CSS Skinning would be awesome. I could probably use this on somesites I'm creating. Work Faster!!!![]()
Yeah - CSS skinning would be very sweet indeed ...
Those upcoming features sound great, and will attract a lot ofattention I'm sure. ![]()
killerstartups.com guys. New startups every day, and the owners tend to be desperate for feedback... If you're looking to build a count and win the iPod, tap into it.
Embedded Tangler on Killerstartups.com and others will also help of course
Now you're just being obvious Chris....
Did you win Mick?
Um, since I didn't actually write down here what group I brought in, then I wouldn't win.
Did anyone bring group in?
Who brought Weewar in? Was it Weewar guys?
I think so....
I was going to bring Zooomr or I'minlikewithyou in, but Zooomr was too busy launching and I'minlikewithyou probably wouldn't pay attention.
well, its way to late, but feeling very very slack due to lack of action i invited the guys from intravino (cant remember the spelling) and a couple of the guys from the rails group at webjam. told them that this was a really great place to network, and that if they were looking for real feedback and not just someone playing that this was the place to be. hopefully a couple will convert. doesnt quite make up for me not doing anything towards helping making the competition a success, but hey, apart from anything else it'll provide new people to talk to![]()
hope it went well and you picked some new guys up.
thanks richard![]()
i brought weewar![]()
Dear Mr Plasticshore, you certainly did bring Weewar. But you are Weewar.
What we should have for you is some groovy t-shirt that says "I got tied up by Tangler".
