  • We Need to Talk abut Kevin, by Lionel Shriver

I just finished this book and I was so floored! My heart was pounding! Such a twist at the end. It took me ages to get through as it is so heavy, but I am glad I persisted with it.

Nature versus nurture. Personally, I think he was a bad seed, but I know others who think the mother wasn't a very good person. A greta book for discussion.

  • The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

Yes, I enjoyed this one. Thought the first half was amazing but it dropped off a bit for me by the end. Looking forward to Hosseini's new one, Thousand Spendid Suns.

  • The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini

The latest book my book club is ready is the Kite Runner. Anyone read it? It is really good. The first 100 pages are amazing. It is sad. About the life of a boy growing up in Kabul.

  • The Sea, John Banville

The next book my book club is reading is The Sea by John Banville. He is a very descriptive writer which at first I thought I wouldn't enjoy, but his use of language is so beautiful and poetic. And the storyline has me intrigued. I have about 100 pages left and must finish by 27 March, in time for the next book club meeting.

    Anyone else read it?

  • Books that sadden

Tully is awesome. By Paulina Simmons (spell?). Such a page turner. It is sad but hopeful as well I thought. How she had to make a choice at the end between her lover and her son. *sob*

  • The Peaceful Pill Handbook

But what would you say if someone wrote a book on how to make a bomb and blow up a train station? Surely that should be banned? Maybe some banning isn't so bad. Question is, where do you draw the line and who draws the line...

  • War of the Worlds

I thought the movie was really bad and so have not bothered with the book. But I did like The Time Machine, also by Wells, so maybe I shouldn't be so dismissive...

  • D.H. Lawrence

I am in a book club and our current book is Lady Chatterley's Lover. Anyone read it?

Bit slow to start but it's picking up now.
