(Oh wow... the year's coming to an end already??)
The New York Times has released it's list of a 100 Notable books of 07.
Unfortunately, I can't find a single one I've read![]()
Has anyone read any of those? What do you think? Is it worthy of that list? Have they missed any?
Don't think I've read any... but that's not surprising since it takes a long time for a book to become popular enough for me to bother reading it.
I've read one - Harry Potter! I tend to wait for books to come out in paperback, and even then rarely read new books, so I'm never likely to read anything in a 100 notable books of the year. I wonder what makes them "notable".
Yeah, I wonder too....
Oh, and I'm boycotting that last Harry Potter![]()
That'll tell 'em!
The last Harry Potter was worth it - just for the epilogue! But I'm very glad it's over and done with... I'm now onto much more fun books (I've started reading Doctor Who books - certainly not going to be in the 100 Notable Books of the year, but who cares!)
The epilogue was the worst part! Proof positive that Rowling needs to get an editor with enough balls to tell her to cut something.
It summed up to "and then after all the adventures of their youth, they all turned into 'average' adults, had kids and became boring."
Or the even-less charitable version - "looking back on his life Harry realised that after defeating the most powerful dark wizard since forever on enough occasions to fill a series of novels, he had turned into just another soccer dad" (that's paraphrased from somewhere on the 'net)
I really like it.. I loved that it summed up the future and made me feel happy that he lived happily ever after. I'm a sucker for happy endings (I love movies when they tell you what happened to characters in the end titles).
hahahaa Is that how she ended it?? Man....
I wasn't gonna read it because I'm not a fan of her style
Okay, they whittled that list down to the 10 best books
Me thinks it must have been a slow book year!![]()
