it's my dream car because it is all muscle, black and just so damn sexy!
That is a beauty
It sounds heavenly too....
Meanwhile, I have too many dream cars.... Plan is to make lots of money and live in/above a garage which will house all my cars![]()
hehe nice I like that plan
A late '60's Morris Cooper
Time for an avatar change Ruski?![]()

The Aston Martin DB5.
This car encapsulates a link between the elegant DB9 road car and the powerful DBR9 race car.
“The DBS is not of the understated elegance of a DB9, nor the youthful agility of the V8 Vantage. It is explosive power in a black tie and has its own unique character which will equal that of James Bond.”
So there.

RRRRRRrrrrrrrrr
James Bond's "real car"
The Henri Chapron conversion of BC-63-LC
was probably the inspiration for Bond's Locomotive.
James Bond's first Bentley was a 1930 4 ½ litre with an Amherst Villiers supercharger. It was a "Convertible coupé" with large French Marchal headlamps.

I had one of these, an XJ6C, in the exact colour above, but black interior. A pig to maintain, but it was beautiful. Hated to sell it, but I butchered it with a Chevy V8 conversion as I was tired of the old 4.2 six lump and it's burned valves and dodgy carbies.
that is a hot jag me like very much
I butchered it with a Chevy V8 conversion
SACRILEGE ![]()
tut tut what a shame
Yeah, I regret doing that but I burned 2 exhaust valves, twice and was tired of the repair bills. Old Jags are cheap to buy, but a pig to maintain. I believe that my car was part of a labour-government (built in 1976-pre Thatcher) wealth transfer scheme to move money from rich (not me) Jaguar owners to the lower classes. It certainly impoverished me, as did an MGB GT of similar vintage did to a mate of mine.
I'll buy another one someday as it was the most beautiful car I owned, ever, but I'll need to win the lottery first!
A colleague in the Columbia Autosport Club in Vancouver had a Healy of that vintage... to change the spark plugs you had to drop the engine! and that was about the cheapest thing you could do to the beast.... it was the land equivalent to a boat (you know the hole in the water to throw your money down thing).
Precisely. Hey, have you noticed in Canada that you can buy JDM cars that are over 15 years old? Freaked me out the first time I saw them. I was on Denman Street, near Robson having a coffee and a Skyline GTR and Mitsu Delica 4x4 van, both RHD, drove past. Having just came from Australia (where they're common) I was surprised. Seems there are a bunch of dealers in Burnaby and such that sell them. Too bad the USA requires a 25 year limit. That Godzilla will be too tired before I can buy one in California.
More and more of them showing up... I think that as we started to get the "right" to import US cars as the restrictions and trade barriers of the Auto pac wound down with the terms of NAFTA it actually led people to thinking about whether their was a big difference in bringing a car from UK/Europe if they were already committed to importing... so the variety started exploding about 3 years ago I think.... (of course it doesn't take too many to make it seem like a lot -- they catch the eyes so readily).
My son worked in marketing for a customs broker for a while before he emigrated to the States... if he had stayed a couple more months he was scheduled to work the brokerage house both at the big SEMA Auto Show in Vegas... telling Canadians how they could import vehicles easily!
But he indicated one of the biggest group of customers was actually importing "old" (8 years plus) vehicles from Japan to Vancouver... Mitsui and Toyota trucks and vans being very popular
Too bad there's no way to scam and just drive one south, although I'd probably kill myself with a RHD car in the USA, as I'm so used to driving over here that I'd just drive it on the left.
Still, I'd like a R34 GTR in my driveway, if just for the oddness factor. I did entertain importing a 1970's Holden Monaro once. Should have done that when they were cheap.
I've got a friend who's always had one or two cars on the go - repairs, gets them back to all stock parts etc., for the last 20 years or so but he tells me that the prices being demanded even for things that should be considered junkers is being driven so high that he's getting increasingly leary of taking the risk on the "next one".... he's thinking it might be time to put the hobby behind him.
I did read of an American guy who bought an apartment in Toronto to keep his TVR in, and then drove it south. Registered in Ontario was no problem and he mostly lived in NYC. I knew I should have bought that apartment in Coal Harbour when the Loonie was $ US 0.63......
About a decade after the great American $ crash (about 2010) the pendulum should have swung that way again ![]()
It's kinda the same here. We get heaps of JDM cars here, but I'd be scared of support costs for most of them. Don't think the Skyline shares a lot of parts with other Nissans here in Oz, so spares may be quite dear.
I'm waiting for the next crash. I do think that the fall in the $ US has been over done, just like the strength was a few years back. Things should regress to the mean at some time. Just don't know when. I was reading an article in the Globe and Mail this morning and it seems that heaps of folks are coming south to shop. Not surprised as prices in canada (and here) don't reflect the strength of the respective currencies.
Some of the high end dealers are crying foul... I haven't seen the Toronto Globe and Mail piece yet, but there was a bit in the local rag a week ago where the owner of an Alberta Porsche dealership was complaining that Porsche wouldn't reset their prices... and claimed as justification that other marques they are competing against weren't so why should they. Great attitude - slap your customers while squeezing your distribution channel out of the game... I thought only the reording people were so bloody stupid.
An A30 would be great to cruise in ...

aww thats so cute and reminds me of Mr Bean
even though it's not a mini it still does
That's a great A30. I love old British cars. I want a Morris Minor convertible some day.

My dads first car was an A30. It was his wheels while he was dating mum. Then he rolled it on the way home from the pub one night. Fortunately mum was not at the pub. Fortunately she forgave him and they got married and lived happily ever after.
aww nice story
GMC Typhoon
or E36 Supercharged M3
and a Volvo V70R for the wife (if there ever is one)
I already own "one" of my dream cars, my 1993 SVT Cobra:

I would love an old 428 Cobra Jet Mustang:
Or maybe a 65 Shelby GT350"

I could go on and on...
I would love a classic Mustang.... those things are just gems... they look and sound heavenly!
I have an Uncle with an old one, '66 I believe, that is in great shape but has not been driven in so long it doesn't run now. Maybe someday I can get it off his hands and get her running. ![]()
Hey, my pics of my Mustang aren't showing now, they were at one point? Anyone know the best way (if there is a way) to post pictures from my gmail web album? Thanks!
I mean, I know I can embed them in websites, but here at Tangler they just show up as links when I do that. So I tried to link directly to them, looks like google didn't like that?
I'm not sure what happened there actually.... I've never used gmail album.
I'll have to investigate and get back to you.
Shame... I'd love to have a look!
Well here is a link to the album of my car:

I was able to insert pics of my car in my original post.
hehe yeah, I can see it now!
SVT cobra is really nice. Great condition. I have a 1992 Taurus SHO, 5Speed. Heaps of fun!
Thanks! Any pics of your Taurus? I like the old school cars. Here is a cool little video of my car:

Here is one from the outside, notice the Taurus SHO at one point:
My dream car is a 1975 Ferrari 512BB (Boxer). A flat12 with 4 x 4 choke dellorto's a perfect chassis and driving position handles like a real prancing horse and is simply wow. I'm at work and can't upload a piccy but it's in my mind, just like the dream....

Yes?
Thats near enough. The classic black/red.
It drives well?
I've had the privelige of driving a Boxer from Basle (Switzeland) to Birmingham. I was doing a favour for a cousin who is rich enough to be able to buy one. Despite it being left hand drive it felt like I was part of the car. It's "only" a 330HP engine but it has pulling power in every gear. It doesn't rip down the road like a dragster, it moves in conjunction with the surface and you are in control of every inch that it moves. If you want it to go, knock it into second and floor the throttle. If the road is dry it simply takes off, if the road is wet, the wheels will spin a bit then you get a little sideways kick and away you go. You come to a corner and take it on rails - or you can slide it or anything you like. You are in control. The car is absolutely fabulous it's handling limits are well beyond the normal persons fear threshold. There is no stereo, car phone, airco or anything, just the things you need to drive. There is an orchestra, the big flat 12 engine sitting in the middle of the car, as the driver, you are the conductor and the symphony is fantastic.
In answer to your question Dek, yes it does drive well...
