Actually, that last clip was from a DVD that BMW had produced. There's like 8 clips or something, each with a different story, each made my a different 'big name' director (like Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie etc). They were giving these out free 2 years ago (I think). One only had to pay for s&h. I ordered like 4 or 5 First ever internet purchase too! 

Anyways, the point I had started out to make - I'll look around and see if I can find the others

I've been thinking lately about how uninspiring most car ads are.

But I've just come across this, so maybe there's still hope

From the YouTube description:

The "Revolution" spot created by Austin-based GSD&M Idea City incorporates unprecedented technology to film the combustion process of a BMW M3 V8 engine without using computer generated effects.

Filming the process was not easy. Manifolds were cut, cylinders shaved, and lighting holes were drilled in three complete M3 V8 engines for Director Raf Wathion to use special cameras and lenses to capture the action.

Folks not in Aust might not have seen this. It's such a good ad, and not just cos it has an R8 in it
