My house.
never had coffee from your house so I can't comment...whats your thoughts on uni coffee?
most of the time im too asleep to realise taste
yeh thats an often occurance
My house. In bring in Peet's from California. Otherwise Dane's in Wahroonga is pretty good. None of the stuff you can buy at Woolies or Coles is drinkable, IMHO.
so true hey, instant just does not cut it
Instant coffee just tastes too bitter to me, I'd rather have no coffee then instant coffee
hmm I use to be like that, then uni came along and all-nighters and I rediscovered my love of caffine....I really should kick the habbit lol
yeah I did kick it when I was in Fiji for two years and was really happy, but then started back up at Uni and the caffine craving took me over again. If I can keep it under 3 cups I am good now.
Instant coffee is disgusting. When I travel around Australia (I like road trips) I take a small french press and some ground coffee. Even cheap and cheerful motels have a kettle, so I can still have decent coffee on the road.
One day I was invest in a french press, which probably not that big of an investment but I am lazy and rather complain about bad coffee:)
has anyone here ever had Grinders coffee like at a cafe or anything? another good one is Tobys Estate Coffee yumbo I love it and theres a cafe they have right near my uni I love it!

Started in Berkeley, CA, where I went to Uni. I have 3 pounds left in my fridge here. One day I'll be featured on Border Security, though I always declare my coffee.
LOL.. border security.. the cigies man! ahah
haha nice, what makes it so good?
It's well roasted from quality beans, and the one I buy, 'Major Dickason's Blend' is a full bodied, dark roast with heaps of caffeine. Lifts the fog that's quite common in the SF bay area in the morning. We're spoiled in Sydney with sunshine in the morning, but SF bay area (near the bay, at least) is more like seattle and is often foggy. Without string coffee, I would not get out of bed.
oh sounds nice, I love coffee that gives you that kick..it's all about flavour and the kick
Major Dickason's Blend®
Our most famous blend. Combines the best coffees from the world's premier coffee-growing regions. Very full-bodied, complex, rich, and smooth.
This is the coffee that many of our customers identify with Peet's. Over the years it has gained a reputation among coffee lovers for its satisfying, rich and mellow (some say comforting) flavor qualities. The blend's components contribute their regional characteristics but are balanced to make a well-rounded cup that is complex yet smooth. We always use the best coffees from each origin for this premier blend, so the customers who order "a pound of Major" won't be disappointed. It produces a first-rate cup in a French press, not to mention an exquisite espresso.
stop it! I am craving an expresso now and its pass my time limit for caffine intake![]()
Now I am going to hunt that coffee down
You'll find it at my house, but they do international mail order as well. If you get up north, try Danes at Wahroonga (right near the station so easy trip on North Shore Line). They have a dark roast that is a good substitute for Peets. I go there when I run out.
is there such thing as like a coffee importer that sells coffee from all over the world to the public? if not I think I might quit uni and open one up![]()
Well I have been pretty impressed with the Lush Cafe down the street from work, good decent size coffees for a very good price!
Better than the place downstairs, but you have to cross the street and I'm pretty lazy in the AM so I put up with the substandard stuff downstairs.
I go to Lush.... rain hail or shine. And I'm not shy abt showing off where I got my coffee when I walk back into the building too!
Take that crap-coffee-makers!
Way to show your pride Dek!
One day you'll be trapped in the lift and they'll ignore your screams, Dek. Shame, shame, shame!
haha got have the escape plan to think about
It's ok.... there's an alarm button in the lift![]()
But it rings in the restaurant. 'Ring Ring" "Yes" "Help I'm trapped in the lift and the roaches are eating me alive" "Have you bought coffee here recently?" "Uh, no, I go to Lush in the morning." "Our policy is to only answer calls for help in the lift for our paying customers. I'm sorry, but you'll have to ring the fire brigade". "But! The roaches! Help" "I'm very sorry. Have a nice day".
This could happen to you. Support the coffee house that supports you.
No! Never!
haha I'd like to see that happen!
Chomp, chomp, chomp!

Mutant hybrid roaches eat Dek in the Lift! Film at 11......
ROFL!!
hahaha you never cease to amaze me Erik
Some sad news - Alfred Peet: Roast in Peace
I just read that in sf gate. RIP Alfred Peet
Just finishing my second cup of Major Dickason's blend. I started going to Peet's, the original store, on Northside as a student at UC Berkeley. It is a addiction for life. The AQIS boys at Sydney airport love my customs declarations with 5KG of coffee beans from Peet's.
What makes it so good? (obviously I've never had any)
You should come up to Hornsby. I'll make you a cup. Compared to Starbucks, or the stuff we get in Sydney, the coffee is more complex, with a full palette of vivid tastes where most others are single-dimensional in comparison. It's a 'kodachrome' coffee vs. regular colours. Hard to explain without tasting it. Dane's coffee in Wahroonga is probably the closest, but only their dark roast as the rest are pretty bland.
Fwaaah.... I'm pretty sure I've never had such poetry-inspiring coffee before!![]()
It's the drugs that do that!
LOL!
left over from the 70s, I hear those flash backs can be crazy![]()
Coffee supplier would be AIR. Best cafe? Pablo & Rusty's. They now have two stores, one at Gordon Station and the other, new at Chatswood. You can get the beans as well from the stores.
