  Suggested becomes sponsored

  This is one thing we are considering testing with Tangler.

  Gmail included suggested links at the top and then slowly slotted in highly targetted sponsored links.

  What do you think? Smart or sneaky?

  Inline Advertising

  Inline advertising is a potential boon for web apps to make more money, but it's fraught with danger and bad kharma.

  I think it could be done well, or something like it but you can't just plug it in.

  And what about user generated content? Can I turn your words into ads? I don't think so!!

  Intentional Advertising

  I want it known that I just invented this term.

  Contextual is good, but intentional is 1000% better.

  Contextual is related to what you are doing.

  Intentional is actually what you're doing.

  e.g. If I'm on a surfing web site and I see an ad for a surfboard that is contextual.

  If I'm on a surfboard shopping website and I see an ad for a surfboard that is intentional.

  Google Search makes 10x that it's adwords network does because it actually solves problems.
