Mine came out at about $500 a year. That seemed like a lot, but over a year it's nothing.
What if it was $50? Probably wouldn't think it's worth it.
What if it was $5,000? Ouch. Probably too much.
That works out at roughly $40 per month, or just under $10 per week... not a bad price to pay for the knowledge that you are neutralising your impact on the environment. Do you think that people are happy to pay this? It is only a matter of time before there is a 'carbon tax' imposed anyway, in my opinion.
Hmmm, good point. Maybe a subscription option could work too? That way you can grow it easier?
Also, I'm not sure I'm happy being neutral. Is neutral enough? Why can't you sell me 200% so I'm actually improving things? Or covering my family or covering the other doofuses who don't care!
Wish there were more people like you, Mick. The subscription idea is a great one... the idea of having a 'scorecard' is that you have to maintain your 'good' score by continually reducing, and retiring your emissions. It is a living thing... and hopefully your overall score will reduce over time. If anyone gets to Zero, let me know!! we'll put you in the COzero hall of fame!
First of all I think this a really great idea. It makes doing something for the environment easy and accessible to everyone, so good on you for that. My price only came out to be $250 a year, which is a lot for this poor masters student, but I guess compared to others not that bad (ehm Mick). It is a great way to check your carbon usage and really put yourself in check. It give people the feeling that everyone of us can make a difference. I am very excited about this site!
Plus I like the fact that you can sign up and figure out your foot print and are given the option to pay now or later.
