Hey guys - feel free to share your thoughts here!
Lots of good logos; good job. Have to say I'm a big fan of soiduflksd. That would be my pick.
I went for jacobrendell. I hope that one wins!![]()
I voted for Blazes and Uri Ar. They will work best as favicon.
Got to keep it simple.
Yeah, blazes is pretty good.
Can we vote more than once?
I will refrain from giving my opinion![]()
You can vote for more than one logo - but only click the submit button once
D'oh! I missed my chance then... nevermind
Heya Michael
How are you Mike![]()
dek likes! So pretty
LOL! I didn't realise that
Haha
lol nice
I twittered this page
Ouch![]()
I retweeted you Chris
mike is having a bad dog day
Eh?
haha no way man - after you mentioned my name on twitter I got 40 new followers - i'm internet famous!
*Does a dance*
mornin'

D'oh!! Beat me![]()
Wow that was quick as
Heya DPN
what the![]()
hey Chris.
different or difference![]()
by the way, embedded tangler ftw!
Heya dpn!
cool huh
I think we need more of these
and, can i see who else is in the room?![]()
doesnt work in safari
Yeah we are just wondering about that
and hitting "return" doesnt submit
Hey everyone
dmosites - you can if you click through to the forum (click on Data Portability)
i like them mike
hmm asian bakery downstairs just opened for the first time. freebies!
ah gotcha, thanks
i like ics2626 but i think i'm in the minority
i like ics2626 also
Yeah, I don't quite like that one
i voted for a few![]()
What do you like about it
i like the actual design...looks cool
mostly the form, the colours and arrangement could use tweaking
i dont know how well it would translate to 16x16
which was a key criteria for the comp
Hi everyone...mail verification FTL!!
True
Heya Adora - Lisa?
yeah, heya again!
oh, like the TechCrunch logo is clever, right![]()
does tangler do openid?
i've had a login for a bit - so may have missed the meme
i could take a swing at downsizing that, i think it could work
>_<
you lie
am i about to get rickrolled by the most well known tech writer? :|
screenshot or you're lyin
haha
icka posted a teaser of the techcrunch set...yesterday?
how many votes have been recorded already?
except uhh...without the techcrunch shirt =]
Many Many votes
So my question to you, Chris
Adora is even hotter in person![]()

adonyao ics2626 are my votes. Rest look like done by corporate identity people - nice looking but too busy for the most part. Simple is key here, low rez.
Do you think the DP logo should/will supercede the logos of the individual tech specs e.g. oauth/openid
hell no
devolved into sexy pix discussion already, lol.
I sure hope not
dmosites I think they each have their own purpose
I think they would dm... but that's also an interesting political question/result.
DATA PORTABILITY > SEXY PICS, KTHX
haha
If only OpenID was that hawt. More like ugly cousin these days.
dp + sexy pics
surefire winner
Actually Adora is going to help send out DP Branded shirts for us right?
I was hoping to be able to announce the winner in next month's startup schwag bag, but it looks like the timing won't work
unless you guys want to make the rabid data portability fans wait a month
Yeah wont be able to wait until then for the announcement - but you can have the logo for the very next release
chris, I was actually about to msg you on facebook to talk about it when I saw your twitter msg
Any usable code to go with the logo?
@Adora skype is better for me - or email
chris.saad or me@chrissaad.com
daveevans our job is not code - our job is developing the best practices
there are a number of projects that are working on writing the code - like "practical portability" and Diso
we can also create pointers to the code work that others are doing
reference platform is important IMHO but I understand.
yeah people will build a reference platform - they have started already
practicalportability.org for example
chris - noted, I'll shoot off an email here in a bit
but it is not a planned deliverable for the DP project
I like what Trent and others have done with the update page, very nice for those of us re-visiting the topic.
The update page?
this live forum is cool- is there a way to see how many people are 'on'?
Oh right - yeah we are doing monthly reports - always very important
click subscribers to see who's on
yeah, where does it say subscribers?
does not seem to do that on the embedded chat - maybe on the full UI
I actually think this forum / chat hybrid thing is kindof obnoxious
upper left above the orange topic button.
First I hear of Tangler
just click through to the full forum and you can see it
Aww why Adora
hrm
@daveeevans always looking for feedback on the monthly reports- would love to quote you in our April edition about how you find them useful?
forums are designed for one purpose, real time communication is another
Robin you are out of the loop - Tangler has been around for aages
kind of obnoxious to browse chat history, isn't it?
seems like Tangler is an implementation of the worst aspects of each, imo
hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes saying that
lol
I've been out of the loop ever since I was born though
only on tangler
hahhahaha
Sure. Chris, I just made the connection with Particls and you, Trent showed me that a while back. It's all coming together now.
I dream about those damn puppets now.
@daveevans cool![]()
how to tweet on a comment/photo here?
only $20...sounds like a bargain
404 on that arrington
@daveevans use the share link to link people to this chat
Stupid question maybe, but is there a point? I mean, we supposed to discuss possible logos?
but you can't link to a specific message in the chat i think
@robinwauters it's just an experiment at the moment
I think we're just hanging out, Robin
Hanging in the hood with the peeps
Or lurking.
we're having a very serious discussion about puppets in here
heya topherchris!!
so who thinks we should put one of these on the DP wiki?
@adora I roll with Twitter![]()
Chris I'll contact you some other time for a datadump, eager to participate, have worked with several companies on persistent portable profiles and credentials.
yozers.
Does anybody actually like any of these logos a lot?
@chrissaad this actually looks a bit like that JS-kit stuff that was presented in Amsterdam
Usability issue #1 : I can't read what's been said above because the window keeps jumping me to the bottom.![]()
I forget which one I voted for now, to be honest
JS kit does not have real-time forum
oh is that what this is?
Web2.0 logo cliche-fest. But hey, whatever.
Twitter is a real-time forum![]()
topherchris, I don't think any of them are spot on. #3 is closest, but that scrawly font has just got to go
Twitter is real-time status updates
and there is no channels or topics or multi-media
twitter is omni-directional communication
Agreed on the font. I liked #4 the best personally for some reason.
I'm all for being as simple as the orange RSS logo. Most logos are too busy.
I think they are very different - we can't have this type of conversation on twitter
I tweeted hostage puppets already.
I'd prefer the conversation be on irc, myself
could use this for Plugg next time
seconded
honestly, i think that these types of real-time discussions need to be initiated, and don't fit so well on the context of a web page
@chris, exactly what you did, twitter the page and people come to chat about it
@dmosites it would in certain cases, like events, earning calls, etc
right, agreed
I like that it's so easy to transition to a topic-based discussion. You go to a web page, and instantly chat...
I can't seem to last in any irc channel without making too many smart-ass comments before getting booted. But I digress. Logos peoples!
but the technology seems a lil lacking
lol topherchris.
michael: plz, for the love of god, no
@michael - that may be interesting, but i'm not sure it would add real value
@michael arrington please, the comments are bad enough already![]()
like boinboing comments, but real-time flamewars.
/me bats her eyelashes innocently
I already am, deadline hell
haha
lol
![]()
I'll probably never get another opportunity to say this, so here goes: A site I helped design was featured on TechCrunch as being one of the fucking worst Michael had ever seen. It was hilarious.
@robinwalters: deadline hell? so what's got you captivated here?
@topherchris congratulations![]()
@adora I'm in deadline hell because stuff like this captivates me more
topherchris, you're shitting me! Link!
Yeah, it was great.
![]()
Ok, I'll tell. But remember, it wasn't my damn idea. I was just a paid freelancer.
/me starts to regret accepting topherchris' offer to redesign one of her sites ^_^
does this ring a bell? SPRINT SUCKS AND SO DOES THEIR NEW WEBSITE
LOL!
ha ha aodra
arrington may have knocked your design, but he gave me the outright death knell![]()
I didn't do the design. just php backend.
so technically, I guess he didn't nail my ass
I see that nobody is really talking about the logos but either way I like ics2626 logo
There is a support group e-list for people who have been slammed on TC, don't know the address though.
still, when you're involved in a project, a razz like that still burns
@sarahcarr agreed
@daveevans it's called Valleywag
@daveevans a support group?
oh fuck yeah.
Streamy's far from dead, Michael![]()
did someone setup a laptop/table at adtech today and invite people to vote?
I voted for logo number 3 btw, and still think it's the best
lol
yes, people who get bad reviews on TC, perhaps an urban legend but I don't mind propagating it.
lol @ slamming, don't hold back.
@danielabarbosa that would have been smart
