I'm always saying I'm not the corporate type - I'd never work for a big company...

And the Water Room (I think that's what it's called) - That's close to my idea of paradise
Oh, and the library looks like an awesome place too
I got an email a few months ago which I don't have right now (but I printed it out, if you want to see it 
) Of some of the perks you get for working at Mountain View, a huge room with video games and pool, a huge 5 star free meal cooked for you by their chef, relaxation 'pods'... wow!
I've heard about those things... and while interesting, it's never made me wanna work there.
But that slide did it
Of course, this means I'd have to relocate to the UK, not the US
....or stay here for that matter
What do they have in London that they don't have in Mountain View?

Yes, in fact, there is the official Slide Rule at Google. It is also useful for calculating PageRank when the power goes out

I actually asked a woman at a hotel in Madrid wether they had WiFi or not... apparantly Spaniards say 'wee-fee' instead of the more accepted 'y-fy'.
I use wee-fee instead now, it just sounds cooler... lol.

Do you think anyone at google would actually notice you didn't belong if somebody just walked in off the street and pretended to work?
I would imagine they have some sort of security on the entrance... keycards or ID badges or something.
Call me crazy, but I think most places prefer to prevent random folks wandering in off the street 
If they just let people in there's all that risk that they'll do something nutty like industrial espionage (or start a fire...)
You know, it might just be possible in a company big enough...
Especially if you're in one of those skyscraping buildings...

He didn't get one, but he said it almost worked. - good strategy I guess...

A large public library, like we have downtown, wouldn't be too hard. Then again, a bunch of homeless people keep hanging out there to get work... It's sad... 
At least they have the opportunity to get educated there, and hey, they're trying!!

Re first post: just the way the brain works... the threatening automatically brings a flight or fight response... in Cybernetic circles its an algerdonic message - bypasses all the other stuff by way of direct response rather than going throught hte concsious filters...

While the standard dictionary definition for a "synthesist": an intellectual who synthesizes or uses synthetic methods
I read "Synthuir" and think Synthesis... Which is what a Bricoleur does....

Yup, both shows were filmed literally in my backyard.. its always near but a little jarring when you recognize all the places as "home" when they are supposed to be somewhere else. The soundstage for Stargate was a 2 minute work from my office..There didn't seem to be the same number of young ladies with a crush on Richard Dean Anderson by the time he was in Stargate though

Bric - regarding 'things being filmed in your own backyard'
I have to say, it was a thrill watching the first Matrix. It was filmed in Sydney, and the city as the backdrop looked gorgeous!
As an aside, I pass this building on the way to and from work, and it's recently been listed for sale. On the billboard advertising that, it says - used in filming of The Matrix.
Egad! They were that close to me all that while!

We had one of the "extra" sound stages for "I Robot" in the warehouse the otherside of the parking lost from my office.... in three months I never saw any of the actors coming or going....Will Smith might not have even been in any of the shots filmed in it for all I know as the main studio was much further away... so I'm not sure that I missed him by * * this much...
Gosh, it's always mad when Hollywood shoots in Sydney. Like radio stations have 'Spot the Actor' segments n all that.
Dek.. if they had the city as a backdrop, then almost all the buildings were used in filming. It's probably just a marketing ploy. I mean, if Keanu was that close to you all the time, don't you think he would have dropped by to say hi?
There's a movie I liked when I was younger called Garage Days, it was filmed in Newtown, and I love walking through there and recognising everything from the scenes. Newtown's just like that though, it's a very vibrant part of the city.
Oh no Morgan... the building I'm talking about isn't in the city, it's on Botany Rd.
They used the interior of that, possibly as a sound stage etc.
