I've been listening to my brother's playlist since I got back from Singapore...

So it's playing in the background as I'm working today, and all of a sudden I hear this:

    hahahaha Too funny!

    2008-10-28 22:26:28.0

That is sooooo awesome! That song is on Rock Band 2! (Minus the Homer Frown)

    2008-10-29 05:35:16.0

Yeh, I like the song, and this version is hilarious!

    2008-10-29 05:41:44.0

Too bad that you could tell someone mashed up that song... and will probably soon get mashed up by the MPAA...

    2008-10-29 14:06:23.0

Well, thanks for bringing it to my attention that my audio wasn't working. Fixed now.

    2008-10-29 15:53:56.0

    LOL!

    What was wrong with it?

    2008-10-29 16:18:27.0

Driver wasn't installed properly. These new PCs with their crazy drivers...

    2008-10-29 17:54:14.0

    Yeh, damn new pcs!

    >:-O

    2008-10-29 18:01:45.0

shhhhh, not so loud, it'll hear you and stop working again.

    2008-10-29 18:03:04.0

Then I'll finally have reason to throw it out the window

    grrrr

    2008-10-29 18:22:21.0

    (Oh, mine, not yours!)

    2008-10-29 18:22:27.0

I can't believe it has this section -

    Notable defenestrations in history

    ROFL!!!

    2008-10-29 19:47:12.0

"In the 2005 film Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith the Jedi Master Mace Windu is defenestrated by the Sith Lord Darth Sidious after he is incapacitated by Anakin Skywalker by means of cutting off his hand."

    FTW OF EVERYTHING GEEK

Although, I feel compelled to point out that Randall has a comic on xkcd on 'Wood in Popular Culture' saying things like "The fence around the backyard of the Simpson's residence in The Simpsons is made of wood, and The stake Buffy uses to kill vampires is traditionally made of wood.

    Tongue out

    2008-10-29 20:03:52.0

*off to xkcd to check that*

    2008-10-29 20:06:28.0

    HAHAHAHAHA That's funny!

    2008-10-29 20:07:55.0

That started an edit war on actual Wikipedia - xkcd fans trying to add the "Wood in Popular Culture" section, Wikipedians trying to remove it.

    2008-10-29 20:20:47.0

    HAHAHAAHHA

    Really??

    That's gold!

    2008-10-29 20:22:02.0

One example with the popular culture section present: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wood&oldid=224146396

If you look through the edit history pages and keep "popular" in the search box, you'll find a lot of edits undoing a popular culture section... where the record of them all being added went, I don't know, but it seems that re-adding it is now grounds for a ban.

    2008-10-29 20:28:31.0

    See how long it lasts...

    2008-10-29 20:31:22.0

Who ever looks up 'wood' on Wikipedia?

Maybe if we come up with a long enough list to the point where they can't push the delete button inbetween bouts of uncontrollable laughter, (and if Dek doesn't snitch Tongue out) we should be able to keep it for some time.

    2008-10-29 20:34:01.0

    Screenshot-ed n all

    2008-10-29 20:36:44.0

Can I tweet this?? Please please please?

    2008-10-29 20:37:17.0

Uhg..... should we...? Grr..... even if you said it was from awhile ago, they might check... grr...

Ohh, but you should check out the fora for this comic:

It has been emulated soooo many times...

    2008-10-29 20:39:11.0

Ok, that I'd never seen before

    2008-10-29 20:40:17.0

Lemme see if I can find some of them....

    2008-10-29 20:41:34.0

I think the strip about a Youtube feature that reads stupid comments back to people is the biggest example of life imitating xkcd.

That or the one where he had a dream where someone gave him "co-ordinates in time and space" (punchline: "turns out no matter how hard you want something, doesn't make it true") and at the appointed hour a ton of xkcd fans were there for a party in the park (the spot specified being in the middle of a park)

    2008-10-29 20:42:54.0

    Oh yeah, I remember that!

    2008-10-29 20:43:55.0

I guess it's a sure sign he's doing something right eh?

    2008-10-29 20:44:05.0

    Hahahaha!

xkcd is awesome, but the geohashing website always tells me no xkcd-ites will be gathering in my area!

Granted, it's usually in the middle of WDW, but whatever. They can afford it.

    2008-10-29 20:44:51.0

One thing about "who ever looks up wood?", it'll be on the "recent edits" list, which certain... dedicated... individuals will be looking through.

    2008-10-29 20:46:22.0

    Uhm... /s/-ers?

I'm glad I now know half of the important //-o-nyms from 4chan. It makes me feel smart.

    2008-10-29 20:49:19.0

That, or in the middle of a swamp. We have too many. Including FU UofF

    2008-10-29 20:51:07.0

    2008-10-29 20:57:39.0

    hahaha!!! niiice XP

    2008-10-29 22:19:00.0

I don't get that chessplaying thing

    2008-10-30 03:36:03.0

Although it's something my sis would do

    2008-10-30 03:36:13.0

Yea, but it's hilarious. You're on a roller coaster, you're on the largest drop, by far, and what are you doing? Playing chess.

    2008-10-30 05:02:00.0

Unless you're me... then you're busy apologising to god for following in Nietzsche's footsteps

    2008-10-30 06:15:40.0

Well, your re-addition of the popular culture section lasted 80 minutes, before being removed by this jerk

    2008-10-30 08:31:30.0

Where's a lynch mob when you need one?!

    2008-10-30 18:02:25.0

Heh. I got 1 Day banned. I guess my alter-IP from Malyasia will have to take over for now....Laughing

    2008-10-30 20:18:27.0

    They banned you for that?!

I actually don't think it's spam. I do think it belongs there

    2008-10-30 20:21:04.0

    It does.

Some excuses that I've thought up:

    1) You're banning free speech!

    2) We need the article to be longer

    3) It hurts nobody-- it only helps

    4) What if somebody needed to know where wood is seen in popular culture?

The only thing they have going for them:

    1) I'm a bastard.

    Tongue out

    2008-10-30 20:28:51.0

Well... they don't even have that going for them.

    2008-10-30 20:33:10.0

I guess it's one of those slippery slope situations. Maybe they think that if they allow this, then they'd have to allow something else, which means they'd have to allow a 3rd thing etc, so when will it end?

    2008-10-30 20:34:01.0

Hrmph. The idiot that banned my IP was stupid enough to list the reason as 'Colbert Meatpuppet'.

    WHAT THE FUCK?!?!

    2008-10-30 20:34:49.0

    What's a meatpuppet?

    2008-10-30 20:37:05.0

And what does it have to do with Colbert?!

    2008-10-30 20:37:14.0

Meatpuppet referring to me being an instrument or blind follower, in this case, of Stephen Colbert. I LOVE Stephen Colbert's show. He is funny. I am not in any way doing anything for him or Randall Munroe. GIVE IT UP!

...well, they're probably out-of-a-job obese and live in their parent's basement, so I kinda see why they might go power-crazy every once in awhile.

Ohh, he said 'Colbert' referring to other things Colbert fans have done.

    2008-10-30 20:40:02.0

    Ohhhh.. Meh @ him

    2008-10-30 20:41:24.0

    Grr....

    But back to music

Linkin Park is awesome. Homer is awesome. Them together make a very funny/ good song. Not best quality, but still funny.

    2008-10-30 20:43:06.0

    :) Yep!

It's as foolproof as adding a Yoda twist to most songs

    2008-10-30 20:47:05.0

I like Weird Al Yankovik or whatever. He is awesome. And if anyone does vector calculus for fun.... I bet it's him.

    2008-10-30 20:48:20.0

hahaha yeah, some of his stuff is really funny

    2008-10-30 20:49:29.0

Speaking of Weird Al.... guess who just came up in the playlist?!!

    ROFL!

    2008-10-30 22:48:04.0

Unless you're me... then you're busy apologising to god for following in Nietzsche's footsteps

Did Nietzsche shit himself on a roller coaster then Dek?

    2008-10-31 03:18:52.0

Lemme send him an e-mail to clarify and get back to you on that.

    2008-10-31 03:36:07.0

*looks madly for histerically laughing smiley*

    2008-10-31 14:23:14.0

    2008-10-31 14:24:11.0

    Looks like it's gonna crash

    2008-10-31 20:56:53.0

Naw, just going in for the 'kill'.
