YES!! I can't believe it!!!![]()
Background - SBS (tv station) had it playing in their summer-themed in-between-program-intro thingies. They used the guitar bit, with just part of one line, and I loved what I heard.
I asked people, searched online, ask SBS, asked Twitter - NO ONE knew what it was.
So tonight, I was watching a recording of last nights tennis match between Nadal and Verdasco, and they played the song! And it had like 2 lines in it. So I copied that portion out (the PVR can do that!) thinking I'd transfer it to my comp, upload it onto YouTube, and then ask if anyone knew the song.
But then, I thought of Songza.com, and thought hey, let's try that!
Problem is that all I could make out from my copied recorded section was 'We can rememeber, ______ in december'
No idea what went in the blank. So I tried searching for 'we can remember, sitting in december', swearing in december, sweating in december, remember december.... went thru ALL the results Songza threw up - all no go.
All the while, the two lines are playing on the TV at full volume.
And then, a stroke of genius! Searched "We can remember, SWIMMING in december"
Click on the first result, and voila!
It's EOS, We are the people!
I found it I found it I FOUND IT!!!![]()

Man.. the rush you get when you find something that's been bugging you for ages...
woo hoo!
hehehehehe
Now excuse me while I go hit the play button repeatedly on that embed.
I haz similar story... there was a song that had been bugging me in the same way, I knew the rhythm but not the words, and no-one could identify it... even when I knew someone who could play the damn thing on guitar, they didn't know what it was called.
My dad suggested Smoke on the Water, which I duly downloaded and found that it had a similar rhythm but wasn't the song in question... then I went back to the download of that song, which had been in a "50 great rock songs" torrent and decided to pull down the rest of the set, expand my tastes and such... left the collection on shuffle then close to fell out of my chair when the song I'd been looking for came on a few minutes later.
Turned out to be "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes.
I thought you were talking about "Sepetember" at first... hmm...
Ooh... I loves the White Stripes...
Also, that sounds like Smoke on the Water?
*SK's humming circuits are messed up*
My dad's listening circuits and/or memory are messed up ![]()
The similarity is that both have a memorable, strong/deep/whatever guitar part.
I agree, they aren't very similar
Ohhh I also like it when it happens like that SK!
I had a similar case. Had no idea what the song was, and my friend played it in his car. That one was California dreaming.
Another one was when I really really liked the song, but all I knew was the tune. After about 2-3 years of searching, I was at a cafe one day, and out of the blue, the song came on!!
So I accosted the people behind the counter and they were nice enough to pull the CD case out, look for the number of the track and gimme the singer and title.
Good people!
Starbucks have a feature where iPod Touch and iPhone users can buy whatever song they're listining to at the Starbucks while it's playing on the radio-system-thingy over free wifi.
That's pretty cool! Maybe they kept getting customers like me![]()
If only I went to Starbucks... oh, and had an iSomething
California Dreaming was also in that "50 songs" collection ![]()

I've noticed that it's songs like these that I notice and that get stuck in my head. Esp the guitar riff part. They're just so catchy
What abt you SK? Anything like that?
Oh yeah... there are songs that stick in my head. Normally random ones out of the music I'm listening to.
"Human" and "Spaceman" from The Killers' latest album for example.
Playing RockBand makes you uber aware of all of the different parts of a song, if you weren't already... too bad all of my instruments are broken... ![]()
Anyways, my favorite song has to be "Spaceman" by the Killers, or "Aqualung" by Jethro Tull, if you want something more 20th Century.
HEY! Stealer!
><
And I'm even listening to Spaceman right now!
No no, I meant sticky songs that you've only heard once or bits of, yet they latch on to your bwain
Couple of songs by Muse are regulars in my mental jukebox, and a couple from Ash (a band I found through Spotify by similarity to Muse)
One that I picked up from bits of was in an advert... turned out to be lines from different verses of "Release Me" (which is apparently by Laura Sweden)
Ooh! Ooh! I have one, dek!
"Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)", which is ironically also DLC for RB2.
Also, high five to Synth for Spaceman ![]()

ARRRGHHHH!
Sorry, that was for pretty fly for a white guy ^^![]()
LOL
Tomorrow I shall go find all the songs you guys have listed.
Tonight, I wanna keep We are the people in my head.
Nite nite!
Nite? It's perfectly past midnight in Australialand!
Yesh... sleep must be had
To be honest I actually liked the advert version of Release Me better... the lines they pulled out made sense to have together as a single verse, so I was surprised that they were scattered through the song.
Spaceman is ironically very very easy to play on RB... as you might imagine...
Though drums is much more fun.
Also, Mark Stoermer once had a job transporting human organs?
Where do they get these things?
Also the "little song about hate" from this advert
That's hilarious!
I personally wouldn't have that guy singing, but...
Damn it, I was just about to start reading that...
So that Rock Band video, which instrument is that for?
Lead Guitar. Base is harder and slightly less fun.
And I was just wondering what company made that, I wasn't watching when the Honda logo came on.
Also, I saw the killers preform Human on SNL... must get around to watching that tonight.
Anyone else like watching the musical preformances on SNL? I quite enjoy them...
LOL 'To the key of GRRRRR'
That ad was made for me!
Wow... you guys get much nicer Honda ads than us
All songs are starting to sound the same these days...
does this mean I'm getting old?
ha ha! *points at Morgan* Oldie!!
Secretly, I agree wif you
I agree, but don't see the point in being covert about it.
That's cos you're a fully fledged grumpy old man!
Yes, I'm going from the point where I used to listen to music and the radio etc every single day to turning it on and going through the dial like.. "crap... crap... techno crap... too loud crap...weird alternative not really anything crap..... whats-hot-right-now-crap...ooh soothing-to-ears classical music...crap...more crap...." turns off radio*
Either that or I just tune into the BBC world service or ABC radio
Yeh, I don't even turn the radio on these days
Does the BBC World service have music programms...?
I thought it was just for propoganda. Which begs the question, why am I paying taxes to entertain people around the world, get your own bloody music!
LOL. Excellent.
It is my calling in life and also in everyones best interests to embed a Rancid clip in every thread.
OUCH
My ears!!
The phenomena you have just witnessed could well revolutionize your way of thinking. We are presenting startling facts and evidence that take up where explanations leave off. Some of these revelations will very well go against things you have been taught and perhaps believed all your life. Prepare yourself for more evidence which will follow...
As far as I know they dont Arthur - surely you know what the BBC world service is?
All songs are starting to sound the same these days...
does this mean I'm getting old?
morgan saying that reminded me of this video which i saw recently....though you've probably all seen it before....
meh!
i like it....
I know what it is and I've listened to the news on it on the odd occaision. Other than its funded bu the Foreign Office (general tax rather than the BBC licence fee) I know nothing. Although, I reckon it must favour the policies of the UK government.
Still better than the crap here on the local airwaves
Sir M - I'd never seen that!!![]()
Wow... who knew our rants had a point
Sending ...
