I find the page too busy.... and I don't like the colours at all... Pink with the flashing ads is hurting my eyes

When I first go to the site, the first thing I see is the search bar, which is good, cos that is why I'm there. But I think that all the other stuff is yelling at me too much and makes me wanna leave 

I suggest bringing more focus to the search fields.... just making bigger would work

The login link (top right) got me confused for a while too... I looked at the page in detail for some explanation as to why I should sign up, or if I needed to in the first place. I eventually clicked on the Login link and realised it was for businesses

Do other people think the search fields need to be bigger? My mum has bad eyesight, and loves that it is so much bigger than other directories already.

Not sure what to say about the "login" link. We need to make it reasonably prominant for businesses. I suppose we could re-title it "business login". Do you think that would help?

If there's more, it might make sense to bundle them all together in one section of the page.  

Well, there's adding and updating a (free) listing, but no logging in is required for that (the links are via the middle 3rd under the search box). All (registered) business activities are performed via the log-in.

I was thinking something like this:

Once upon a time we did have the "home" link on the left, but were told it wasn't great from an SEO perspecitive. Will take what you're saying onboard though.

The ads are a bit gruesome - especially the dating one. Has a suggestive young woman with a fair bit of skin on show...

 We have a "modesty" policy on dLook dating which pretty much says that all the "naughty" bits have to be covered. That said, if a guy or a girl wants to post their bikini or speedo photo then where do we draw the line. 

Bear in mind that "singles" are trying to attract attention to themselves the best way they can. 

I'd definitely ban photos of guys in bikinis.  (Thanks goodness for standards.)

By the way, we've streamlined the home page to make it less "busy" when you land (got rid of the middle 3 ads directly under the search bar). Not so flashy now.
