Which do you use and why?
I have a myspace account but I haven't looked at it for months. I'm now using Facebook nearly everyday.
I started on Myspace, but never really got into it because it was hard to control who was looking at your account and I didn't like randoms talking to me. I like facebook because I have that control and it is a good way to keep up with friends. especially if you are traveling and want to share pictures easily.
I use both everyday...I prefer Myspace because thats where most of my friends are and it's easier to network and such and there's more music/band sites ect. I think Facebook is getting there, in the last 3mnths they have started to try and jazz it up abit with new applications and such..but Myspace will always be my first choice
Ok here we go: Myspace is filled with spammers, every layout I see is completely horrid, usability sucks.
I first joined Facebook just to spite Myspace, but I find now that it is a fantastic tool for social networking, productivity, and fun.
facebook definitely. too many "click here to see my naked photos" profiles in myspace.
yeah too many sketchy people about on Myspace
I am starting to shift towards facebook nowdays...more people that I actually talk to at uni and stuff are using it..myspace I keep getting invites from bands..it's annoying
I have had a MySpace account for sometime now. At first it was a fun way to keep up with friends, but now it's millions of "friends" and find that now it's all a bit "look at me" and how drunk I got last weekend. Or just a way of saying "hello", "I'll be getting drunk next weekend". It's also the dronings of wannabe writers and slow witted teenagers who think that every love sick, heart rent piece of 10th grade prose is somehow original and interesting to us all.
And now It feels like it's more of a media thing now because those folks who seem to know least about what's going on -the "Yooof meeja"- have caught on to it just as everyone is bored with it. As usual. It's not really as if it was a solely "yoof" thing anyway, but hey a couple of kids commit suicide and guess what? Something is to blame so it's "EMOs", "Goths" the imagined 'evil' of the internet and of course "MySpace". God give me strength! If The media actually got up off their plush bar stools and had a look at the world they would find it's way more complicated than that.
As it fades away I'll bet Rupert is kicking himself for buying into some passing ephemeral fad.
I Recently set up a FaceBook Account and by the time I figure out how to use it effectively (being the old fart I am) it'll be the same media fodder and I'll have to move on to the next one.
I hear ya.... which is why I'm avoiding it
I'm agree Myspace is full of spam
If MySpace removes JS support from MySpace profiles and keeps the spammers/scammers away, I'll love to be back on it. but I've a feeling that it's never going to happen cause MySpace kids love flashing texts/weird widgets and Tom loves his space kids!
Ever noticed how you can't get rid of Tom as your friend? I've deleted him as a friend and he keeps coming back. But oddly not straight away and at different time intervals.
Umm.. Actually, I never tried to delete him so don't really know the magic behind his re-appearance in your list. I did notice one thing though. Whenever I tried to keep him away from my top friends' list, he kept invading the list at different time intervals. Weird experience, no?
@Avinash, yup, he's always in your top friends, even when you've booted him to the bottom of the pile, back up the list he climbs.
He's like malaria, once you've got it, it never goes away.
I've never really seen the point of MySpace. As others have said, ugly profiles and spammers are annoying. The only reason I even have an account there is because some of my favourite artists use it.
Whereas with Facebook after barely a week I've caught up with some old friends and had great fun with various apps. I think that's what wins Facebook over - all the apps for it.
