True it is better to meet people at the pub and whatnot, but I use facebook not as a way to meet people but rather a way to keep up with current friends.
Alcohol also makes people more bearable....

I'll put my hand up for Facebook. Well, for the Internet in general, really. I've met very few people in a pub and I find them unbearable places to go to socialise. I don't think you see the real side of someone in a pub - even people you know. While I like to go to a pub for a nice meal or a quiet drink with friends, I would never consider going to meet someone new. But then I am an intravert so I guess that's probably why!
