I would probably use this application to take photos of my kids. All family live elsewhere so I am always plagued by the need to find new and better ways to stay in touch. I think this could be useful in that sense.

Plus it looks like a bit of fun!

I bet you (or at least Flickaday developers) already know this, but let me point out a couple of people / site who made something very similar, a few years ago (on an individual level): Noah Kalina (see this video on youtube) and jm of 09h09.com

Dekrazee is correct here. Those youtube videos were definetely some of the inspiration behind flickaday. The purpose of flickaday is to make this process easy, and give people the ability to create a very easy diary of their life. You'll see some new features (coming soon), that will make looking back on your photos very interesting.

Could you give us some clues as to the upcoming features?

i will gladly. but actually, before I do that.  I would like to hear from you and any other users, what features they would like to see on flickaday. I want to get your opinions before I cloud your mind with my ideas. Hopefully, our thoughts are along the same lines.

I was thinking some photo editing features, or video editing features, but I'm not sure if you wanna do the photo editing one

dekrazee1, we've thought about some things along those lines, enhancing the video and photo experience. We've also thought about adding the ability to capture more content about you and your day. So, when looking back you can remember more about your past; like a simple diary.

I think there is a lot of potential if you do certain things. My first thought about it was cool, I could use this blah blah blah. Now I find myself almost a week later having not touched it but the 2 times. That is somewhat normal for me as I tend to move on with things but I guess there needs to be some way for users to be reminded. Maybe an email for them to come take their picture, or a way to remind people through the cell phone. I think you were thinking of that already but its obviously not doing anything yet.

 I think being able to add something to a picture would be cool, like a thought bubble or hearts or whatever. Look at graphita(i think thats it) for ideas. I applaud your trying to make the first usage as fast and painless as possible, but its somewhat abstract and doesnt really tell people where and what to do past that initial interaction. When you first goto the site you should see text about what the site is, why I want to use it and so on. Then the attractive link that would take me to where I would sign up, Then you could have that setup you have now where you fill in user and pass, take pic and what not. After that it should immediately take you to your preferences or something like that. 

I think that you should give users two options at the beginning for pictures, an upload or webcam option. It shouldnt be too hard to make it work right there without having to goto another page.

Thanks for the feedback. All good stuff. There are reminders built in, that can be turned on or off. Right now the email reminder is the only one that is launched. The SMS text messaging is something we definetely have in the works, but will require some more development time.

I agree with your feedback about some of the interface and usabilitiy quirkiness. To be honest the site caught on a little quicker than we anticipated, and all of the kinks were not able to be ironed out before the general public had access to the site. None the less we are pleased that people are making use of the site, and we encourage all of your feedback to make the site even better.

Also, maybe you could expand the service so that people have a way of say uploading their holiday pics and making it into a slide show or whatever...

Well, without giving too much away, ideally we would like information pertainent  to the user to be captured automatically. For example, a news headline from each day would automatically be attached to your calendar.

Oooooh.... I like that idea!

I have been using it and has been a great help getting me to do a project I can never quite remember to do. I think at this point the biggest draw for me is actually the _lack_ of features. It's simple all I do is go to the site, let it use my webcam and a couple of clicks and I'm done.

I have it installed asa little widget on my webite and it's nice to know that a few moments work keep things updated.

More features would mean more time spent on the site but for me that's a negative. I like that it's quick and easy and the more options I have the less quick and easy it would be.

The few features I can see being useful are via cell phone as already suggested and a very simple crop feature that would let you get a nice head shot centered every time

I was just updating my Facebook account and a friend was asking me about the new apps so I went to check them out. I must say that this is something you need to do asap, that is make an app for facebook, you can use your servers for things and it should be pretty easy to port. Seriously, this would be a huge hit for Facebookers.

The facebook app is one of our top priorities. We can't wait to be able to deliver this to our user base. Also, beaglebot, we couldn't agree with you more. We want flickaday to be very very simple. If and when we add new features, we will make sure they don't detract or slow your user experience.

Perfect for users like me who are reasonably capable of using technology but easily bored and intimidated! 

I just wanted to update on my thoughts. Ive been using facebook more and more lately, playing with apps and researching making new ones. Well I believe your app is perfect for the site, you could honestly port your site over and get tons of users. I know you are already going down that path, I just wanted to say I cant wait to see it. You could put your capture and all non-widget functions on canvas pages and so on. Blah sorry, good luck with this guys.
