I've copied this here from the main site as it'll be easier to keep track of the flight.

I’ve been wanting to do a complete “around the world” trip in a sim for ages. I’ve tried it before, using mostly heavy aircraft. I got about half way around once, but, to be honest, it got a bit boring, spending hours on long-haul flights.

So, I’ve decided to take a completely different approach. I’m basically “planning” it as I go along, using Aerosoft’s Beaver X in Flight Simulator X (see review here). What made me decide on that aircraft was the addition of a special PC Pilot version which has a massive extra internal fuel tank, so I can do some longer legs if I feel like it.

Here's me taking off from EGNT:

I’ve created a map on Google Maps so you can follow my progress and even join me if you like.

I started today, with leg 1 being a very short hop from my home airport of Newcastle, UK (EGNT) to Durham Tees (EGNV). I’m using real weather via Active Sky X (I’ll be reviewing this soon) and it was a pretty murky grey start to the trip, as you’d expect from this part of the world! The screenshot shows my take-off from EGNT. I shall report on the trip as I progress.

    Wish me luck )

    Leg 2 - EGNV - EG0E

Keeping to the East coast of the UK, I took a flight of around 80nm, flying over the Humber Bridge on the way:

Weather was fairly good, but with the cloud base at about 4500 feet, so kept to around 4000 feet for the duration.

    Here's my arrivial at EG0E:

    Leg 3 - EG0E (North Coates) - EGYM (Marham)

Shortish 53nm flight this morning before work

Weather still not great (as can be seen from the screenshots below) with the cloud base at around 3,300 feet, so kept to around 3,000 feet for most of the trip.

I'm quite impressed with the next shot - this is NOT photographic scenery!

And here's my approach to Marham

Leg 4 - EGYM (Marham) - EGMC (Southend)

Flew into Southend today, hoping to catch vulcan 426, but she must be out on a test flight (although look at the satellite image on Google Maps and you can see her there!)

    Here's take-off from Marham:

Managed to get a small break in the cloud en route, but still had to remain at no greater than 5,000 feet:

    Southend is in sight:

And now at the fuel pumps ready for the next leg:

Leg 5 - EGMC (Southend) - LFQQ (Lille)

105 mile trip, finally leaving the Uk and heading into France.

Got a bit of break in the weather en route, but a thunderstorm was brewing at Lille when I arrived. I'm going to track the Tour de France over the Alps for the next part of the journey.
