Poor old Christijan, he has had an unfortunate season hasn't he?
Wonder which sponsor pulled the pin?
Wow, how bout that?
I have just changed my name to Sebastian, and am awaiting a phone call.
ROFL!!
I'm right behind ya
And now for some humour (courtesy of Not The F1 News).
heheheheh
Can't Get It Up The Grid Any More...?
The Renault team have denied that the lorry load of Viagara detained by Hungarian customs officials outside Budapest last Friday was destined for team boss Flavio Briatore.
"It's true that Flavio is fed up with not coming first any more," said a team spokesman, "but that's entirely to do with the racing team."
And there's this.......
Gorillas Getting P***ed
As a ruse to put Scandinavian paparazzi off his scent, Kimi Raikkonen and his pals dressed up as gorillas on a fishing trip. However because of ongoing sponsorship commitments it soon became obvious which one Kimi was. He was the gorilla wearing the Tag Heuer watch and the Bridgestone baseball cap.
And this.......
Mercedes' Bends
Mercedes have decided to cash in on the Lewis versus Alonso feud by adding scenes to their I can do anything better than you can TV advert. In the new scenes, which feature Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso trying to out-compete each other on the way to a hotel, Lewis drives Fernando off the road to demonstrate the new C-Class's safety cell, while Fernando's brake test of Lewis shows the car's automatic braking function. During the filming Fernando also tried out a series of hand gestures - which are optional on the C-Class.
And......
Schumi FINDS New Role At Ferrari
Ferrari have announced that they have at long last found a role for Michael Schumacher in the Scuderia set-up after the former World Champion struggled to find a niche. From now on he will dress up as heroes of the American music industry at all the races he visits. At the European GP, sporting a shirt bought at the Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville he chose Country and Western legend Hank Williams. In Turkey he will arrive as Elvis, at Monza Jon Bon Jovi, and in China he will imitate Madonna on the 1987 Who's That Girl tour. Jean Todt has already agreed to buy the dress for a six-figure sum
And finally, in the latest twist in the Stepneygate saga, Nigel Stepney has denied ever working for Ferrari.
So there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
![]()
ROFL!!!
Very funny stuff!
lol
I believe that BMW are doing the right thing by hanging on to Heidfeld and Kubica. as they both show signs of something special. (not many people can get away with a 150kmh shunt into a concrete wall and only get a sprained ankle) ![]()
And DC's bulemia wow, I never ever really thought about it, but he has always been a pretty lean guy.
Yeah, they've both done really well with what was available to them, so it's a good move. Think Rosberg and Webber are kicking themselves now?
I think they would be!
hehehe yeah..... silly silly
Another 'controversy'
Massa 'inside info' controversy
Two journalists have told the publication that Felipe Massa knew Fernando Alonso and McLaren would be punished by the stewards in Budapest three weeks ago, before the officials actually handed down their verdict late on Saturday night.
About an hour before the stewards published the verdict, Massa told the unnamed reporters in a restaurant: "Alonso will lose five places and his team will score no points."
What's the big deal?
Exactly $deezee$, So someone told him before they told the journo's, big deal.
It doesn't change anything. ![]()
Unless..... He was told much earlier, and it somehow affected his quali and race strategy.... which is impossible, so no harm, no foul
The sale of the Dutch formula one team Spyker has been agreed and will be officially confirmed shortly.
The buyer is Indian businessman Vijay Mallya, who in recent days joined with the Michiel and Jan Mol consortium in a jointly (US) $110m bid, the local CNBC-TV18 reported on Saturday.
Mallya's involvement is reportedly in his "personal capacity", meaning that his airline Kingfisher will continue to sponsor Toyota.
Wow how about that, I hope he has a lot of money.
It is not known what the new name for the Silverstone based team, also called Jordan and Midland in recent years, will be, but the joint consortium is called 'Orange India'.
Well at least they won't have to look for a new colour scheme. ![]()
hahahaha Good point!
Maybe that's why they went after that team in the first place....
Yeah I reckon! ![]()
F1 magnates unveil £14m QPR offer
Formula One magnates Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone have unveiled details of a £14m offer for Queen's Park Rangers football club.
They're finally doing something abt the ridiculous 3rd qualifying session:
F1 gp agrees to qualifying tweak
Yaaay.... more quali changes *rolling eyes*
I believe all quali sessions should begin with a full fuel load in every car and that every car should start the race with a full tank. (that will get rid of a lot of crap)!
What's sad about it??? Wish I had had the chance to retire at age 33 ![]()
I would have liked to see him stay as a driver longer, and get a chance with a better car
what, like Webber had with Williams?
huh?
and get a chance with a better car...
what, like Webber had with Williams?
2005...remember it?
...another year when Australia went home with their tail between their legs...
Yeah, but at least Webber's still there.
As long as you are there, you have a shot. He's retiring!![]()
Hey, dek, this will probably confuzzle ya...
* If Hamilton wins or finishes second he is the World Champion
* If Hamilton finishes ahead of Alonso and Raikkonen, no matter the position, he wins the title
* If Raikkonen doesn't finish in the top two he can't win the title
* If Alonso wins, Hamilton has to finish second to win the title
* But if Alonso wins the race and Hamilton is third, the Spaniard retains the crown as even though they would both have 113 points, Alonso would have more wins the Hamilton
* If Hamilton finishes fourth, Alonso must win the race to win the title
* If Hamilton finishes fifth, Alonso also needs to win the race
* But if Hamilton finishes fifth and Alonso finishes second, Hamilton would win the title as even though they would be tied on points they would also be equal on P1s, P2s, P3s, P4s and therefore the title would go down to the most number of fifth placed finishes. And Hamilton's P5 in Brazil would be the one that won him the title
* If Hamilton finishes in the top five, Raikkonen cannot win the title
* If Hamilton finishes sixth, Alonso needs a P2 or better to win
* If Hamilton finishes seventh and Alonso finishes third, Hamilton would win based on a superior number of second placed finishes
* If Hamilton finishes eighth, Alonso needs to finish third to win
* If Hamilton doesn't score any points, Alonso needs a fourth or better to win
* But if Hamilton doesn't score and Alonso finishes fifth, the title goes to Hamilton as he has more second-placed finishes than Alonso
That is fantastic. I don't often watch these races, but armed with this information, there is no way I will miss this one.
This is what needs to happen - Massa needs to take Hamilton out, McLaren need to pay someone to take Alonso out and Kimi needs to win the race.
Done!
I reckon our dek has F1 permutation-burnout...or, she's not talking to me again...
ah...there you are...where have you been?

Oh, OK
why can't fernandago just take the blackhammer out?
Cos he wants to win it for himself

not if poface was leading with a lap to go...and bh was running second and fernandago couldsn't get past...and...aaaargh

Whatever happens, I just hope it's an exciting last race. And that Kimi gives em all a run for their money![]()
it's becoming too much for me already ![]()
How's that?
the waiting..............................
well, two more days, and then at least there'll be practice to keep busy with
Do you know when they'll show the race?

F1 star Hamilton clocked speeding
Isn't it funny that a racer caught speeding makes news everywhere? hehehe
He was lucvky to get off that lightly.
If you were caught at that speed here in Aust (66K over the speed limit) he would probably be charged with dangerous driving, which a heavier penalty. (depending on which state you're in of course).
But it must be difficult fot those guys to restrain themselves, given what they do for a living.
Seeing that their speed limits are higher, I'm not surprised the penalties are lower.
They get to do 130!!!!
I'm moving to Germany![]()
I've got some rellies there, in a little farming town called Gommern. (It's near Magdeburg, which is near Berlin)
We could go for a burn down the Autobahn. ![]()
Sure! You're on!
Haha, the other day a chap was driving 265km/h in a 100 zone. Got R17000, about US$2500, and 6 month suspended license. It was the fastest speed ever clocked on a traffic ticket. He was driving a Jaguar.
How sad that the fastest ticket is in a Jaguar...
*shaking head*
It's not really breaking news, but have you seen the official Singapore GP website???
Yeah, I have seen it....
I've never been more tempted to go to Singapore!
F1's plans to go green:
Formula One to phase in Kinetic Energy Recovery System from 2009-2013
I read (in the proposed future rule changes) a bit about the proposed Kinetic Energy Recovery System a few months ago, and I wondered how it would work..I could envisage a big clockwork spring being wound up to store the energy.
(only jokin)
This article is great and explains a great deal about it, thanks for that deezee.
*takes a bow*
I'm sure everyone has heard of Super Aguri's problems?
Well, it now looks like they're out of the game: http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns20318.html
A shame
Yes it is a big shame.
Anything that diminishes F1 is a shame.
Schumi says: I quit F1 to save Massa's seat.
Somehow I find that hard to believe
Haha, I find it hard to believe as well, but it makes for a good story.
My guess is that Schumi thought that it was time to go anyway and didn't do it either, from fear of Kimi, or love of Massa.
Yeah, exactly
I heard on the radio this morning that Phil Hill (the only American ever to win a F1 world drivers championship) has died aged 81, from complications of parkinsons disease.
Hill won the WDC in 1661, I remember it well.
And here is some real breaking news..........
Massa and Kimi Confirmed for 2009
Raikkonen and Massa confirmed as Ferrari drivers for 2009
ROME, Aug 29, 2008 (AFP) - Finland´s reigning Formula One champion Kimi Raikkonen and Brazilian Felipe Massa have been confirmed as Ferrari drivers for next season, team boss Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said on Friday.
Cordero di Montezemolo, speaking while at Monza in the north of Italy where several Formula One teams are having tests, said when questioned on whether the drivers would remain the same for 2009, said: "Absolutely, yes."
Renault driver Fernando Alonso had been mentioned in certain quarters as a possible recruit for Ferrari.
Di Montezemolo added on Alonso: "I was disappointed to see a great champion like him not make the top 10 in Valencia (during the European Grand Prix on August 24 where he retired on the first lap)."
He added on the recent difficulties by Raikkonen - third in the world championship standings with 57 points behind Britain´s Lewis Hamilton (first on 70 points) and Massa (second with 64 points) - that the Finn was "not in a crisis."
"He is motivated and we must work hard so that he is in a position to make a quick start," di Montezemolo added. "Especially on the new circuits which I don´t like and are doing harm to Formula One. You can´t overtake and nine times out of 10 whoever takes pole position wins.
"All this criticism of Raikonnen reminds me of when (Filippo) Inzaghi was at Juventus. If he did not score in three matches, everyone said he was in crisis."
Now maybe the crap about Alonzo driving for Ferrari in 2009 will cease....![]()
Ok Andro, I just knew you meant to type 1961. Good story for someone from the USA. Although I doubt that there will be a modern day equivalent until they adopt irregular race tracks - that is ones that are not a perfect oval with corner camber to guarantee you to stay on track...
Oh happy day! Yippee!
I was slightly apprehensive about Kimi's future, cos he keeps talking about retirement
Ok Andro, I just knew you meant to type 1961.
Oops......
I must admit, my memory of 1661 is a little hazy..![]()
Yeah, 'tis good news that Kimi and Filipe's immediate future has been guarranteed. (well guaranteed as far as anything in F1 can be)
Yeah... and well, if they've inked the deal, they're pretty much set for now....
Now all Kimi needs to do is win the damn thing!
Alphonzo to drive for BMW......Maybe?
Naaaaah..... Really?
Guess what? Kimi AND Massa have both been confirmed till 2010!
Really?...........Looks like the rumours about Alphonzo and BMW may have some substance to them then..
Fandango in a BMW would be a real danger to Ferrari.![]()
Naaah.....
Won't happen
Bummer.... I had some F1 news to share, and now I can't remember what it is
Alziheimers? ![]()
Naaah.....

Do you know something that you're not telling me??
LOL! No... It just looks like BMW are very happy with their drivers.... and Alonso comes with a reputation
And I remembered the news thankyouverymuch... put it in the other topic
Ok, i'll forgive you this time..![]()

From F1-Live.com
Even without the prospect of Fernando Alonso at the wheel, the Spanish bank Santander's 2010 switch from McLaren to Ferrari is still on track, a Spanish newspaper insists.
Diario Sport reports that Banco Santander is now confirming that, at the end of a three-year contract with McLaren next year, the company does not intend to exercise an option to renew for a further two years.
The newspaper explained that while Santander was keen to spearhead its Ferrari association with Alonso in a Maranello-built car, this element has not proved a dealbreaker.
In other financial news, Formula One shareholder Lehman Brothers has filed for bankruptcy, proving that the sport is not immune to the current global financial crisis.
With 16.8 per cent to its name, the New York-based investment bank is F1's second largest shareholder, behind CVC.
D'oh!
So we know there isn't going to be a Canadian GP next year, although some reports say they're trying to salvage it....
Now, there won't be a French GP either
Wow, and the way things are (economically) the question is who will be next to drop out..?
No Magny-Cours will leave a big hole in the calendar..
I was watching the news the other night and they mentioned that Brazil and Argentina were in big financial trouble and I immediately thought the GP on 2nd Nov, but I guess they will have already committed (and spent) much of the money, but it will be interesting to see what 2009 brings.
Maybe they will reconsider the dumping of Canada now..(that is if the Canadians are still interested in having it)
Interesting isn't it? All the 'traditional' races are first to go
Yep...![]()

FIA announces standard engine tender
By Jonathan Noble Friday, October 17th 2008, 07:42 GMT
The FIA is to open the tender process for a standard engine in Formula One from 2010, in a move that could drive manufacturers away from the sport.
Mosley wrote to teams last week telling them that he was considering introducing standard engines as a way of driving down costs. It comes ahead of a team principals' meeting in Geneva next week to discuss urgent cost cuts.
It was widely believed that Mosley's threat was simply a way of forcing through other changes, because of the hugely controversial nature of stipulating manufacturers run a standard engine.
However, in a shock statement issued in Shanghai on Friday afternoon, the FIA announced that it was to open the tender for a standard supply of engines - suggesting the plan was going ahead.
The statement read: "The FIA will today open the tender process for the appointment of a third party supplier of engines and transmission systems to be used by competitors in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship.
"The tender summary and requirements will be published on the FIA website shortly."
Manufacturers made it clear in Japan last week that they were against the move to a standard engine - and some suggested that they would withdraw from the sport if they were introduced.
McLaren F1 CEO Martin Whitmarsh said about the effect of a standard engine: "It does have a pretty big impact on Formula One – I imagine it would lead to quite a few of the engine manufacturers leaving the sport."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Are we witnessing the death of F1 ?????
But wait. there's more........ (The views of a Ferrari fan)
Of course its ridiculous and not 1 mft will actually go for it...they are in the sport to show how good their engines are...really, whats to cheer for in a red car that doesnt have a Ferrari engine...it simply becomes a red car...millions of people cheer teams and not just drivers...so I have to ask the question.....
What is Max REALLY after? What does he want so bad that he will threaten to do something that goes against the very idea of F1.
Thats what Id like to know....Then again mabey Alfa will win...Macalfa?//SauberBMW that uses an Alfa? AlFarri?
It will be interesting to see how this turns out, I would imagine the manufacturers would not be happy.
Between them, Bernie and Max are going to turn F1 into a clone of A2GP and that won't be worth watching..
The word "Breakaway" comes to mind..
Maybe this is the only way Aston can get in on the action...![]()
But seriously, WTF??? Standard engines?!
So what, it's not gonna be a race of aerodynamics?
Why don't we just leave that to Boeing and Airbus
We all know that next year the tv rights will pass from ITV to the BBC, but who will the new commentators be, and how much will we miss James Allen..
(did I hear someone say "Like a a hole in the head")?
Maybe that was just me thinking out loud..![]()
Well there has been much speculation about the subject, so here is a glimpse at what the line up may be.
Looks to me like Martin Brundle will be there (which is good) but that Jonathan Legard (remember him)? will replace James Allen on the main commentary team, whilst Lee McKenzie will do the task previously performed by Louise Goodman and Ted Cravitz.(in the pits). It appears as though David Coulthard will act as a pundit, from the studios in London.
If you don't remember Jonathan Legard's voice , then here is a refresher from France 2002..(audio only) It's one of Shumi's wins.......
As nothing has been formally announced at this time, all this is only speculation/rumour at the moment, but I believe it may be fairly accurate..
Oh thank goodness!!!
I detest the ITV guys. They take away from my enjoyment of the race so much.
Ferrari's comment on standardised engines....
Ferrari threaten walk-out if engines standardised
Mon 27 Oct, 06:07 PM
ROME (AFP) - Ferrari have indicated they could re-evaluate their commitment to Formula One if plans to standardise engines for all teams competing in the world championship become reality.
Formula One has seen many teams taken over by car-makers in recent years with Renault, BMW, Toyota and Honda joining Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz in using the sport as a showcase for their brands and cars.
However faced with rising costs and calls for major reforms to help boost the sport the International Motoring Federation (FIA) announced last week plans to cut costs and standardise engines.
The FIA said it will be open to tenders for the standardised engine and transmission to be used from 2010.
Ferrari, in a statement released following a board meeting on Monday, said they "fully agreed with the need for a substantial and necessary reduction of costs".
But the Italian firm said it had "major reservations" over any proposals that would lead to teams using the same engines: "... it would deprive Formula One of its whole reason for existing, which is based on competition and technological development".
The statement added: "It is thanks to these elements that Ferrari has been a continual and integral part of Formula One since 1950.
"If these elements were to become obsolete, our Administrative Council (board) reserves the right, after consultation with its partners, to evaluate whether we remain committed to the discipline (of Formula One)."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Following the FIA calls last week Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone played down fears that major manufacturers would quit the sport over the standard engine issue.
Ecclestone said he "can't see any reason" why car-makers might leave over the plans, which he said would help them save money as the global economy stalls.
"I don't see why they should leave. We are saving them an awful lot of money, I hope. I don't see why they should," he said.
"Why should someone pull out because they are going to save a lot of money? All the technical things will still be there so they can show all their talents.
"What we want is to reduce the necessity to spend to be competitive. That is the simplest thing."
Apparently Toyota have indicated that they feel much the same as Ferrari...
Yeh, and so do I

Not The F1 News: Curse Of KERS
A selection of the very best F1 non-stories not making the news right now.
The KERS of Ferrari
Luca Montezemolo has revealed that the Ferrari team are deeply concerned about the introduction of the new KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) for 2009. Though the Scuderia believe they can get the technology right, they are worried that the electronic system is likely to have more personality than Kimi Raikkonen.
Snuff(ed) TV
In a separate story, Ferrari boss Montezemolo has admitted to kicking in his television at the dramatic conclusion of the Brazilian GP. He was all right while the cars were still touring Interlagos on the slowing down lap...but then Ron Dennis came on screen.
Italian insurance companies have reported that over 6,300 televisions mysteriously fell off their stands over that same GP weekend.
Eddie Who...?
Eddie Irvine has advised Lewis Hamilton to ignore the racist fans permeating the sport of F1. "They can do what they want on the internet, as long as they physically don't hurt anyone. I'm a big believer in 'sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me'" said the talentless, workshy, gobshite arse whose only claim to F1 fame was causing the accident that broke Michael Schumacher's leg.
Steady There, Grandad
Bernie Ecclestone has been making light of his unfortunate 'senior moment' following a row over coments he made on BBC radio. The F1 supremo described a racist Spanish website that targeted Lewis Hamilton as simply a "bit of a joke". It's now been revealed that in the same interview he went on to describe Osama Bin Laden as "a practical joker who didn't know when to stop" and Pol Pot as "a real character; we don't see many of those in the pitlane any more." A spokesman for one anti-racist campaign commented, "I don't know about looking after the future of Formula One, but I wouldn't even trust him with a packet of Werther's Originals."
Not After Sunrise...
It seems that after some great TV advert acting performances by Michael Schumacher, F1 drivers are in great demand. Nico Rosberg has revealed that he has a glamorous guest role lined up in the new Metallica video scheduled for filming in the New Year. At the same time, Fernando Alonso has been given a cameo role as a gritty gunfighter in a Spanish remake of one of the Spaghetti westerns. Meanwhile the Producers of 'Vlad Dracul - The Nightmare Returns' are still trying to get in touch with Robert Kubica...
Nelsinho The Fightback Starts Here
A spokesman for the Renault team has denied that they are re-hiring Nelson Piquet Junior for 2009 as a blatant sop to No.1 driver Fernando Alonso, because after outqualifying him 18-0 over a season Alonso knows he is no threat. Apparently Nelson came out fastest in a secret, behind-closed-doors shoot-out test at Silverstone in November between three potential drivers. Neither Dannii Minogue or the Duracell Bunny could get anywhere near Nelsinho's lap time.
LOL!!
Very funny!
Just what I needed![]()
Webby injured in bicycle accident in Tasmania.![]()
November 22, 2008 12:55pm
2.35pm UPDATE: INJURED F1 driver Mark Webber has been transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital after he collided with a car while on his bike.
Webber was injured in a head-on collision with a car about 12.30pm while riding his bike south towards Port Arthur.
Buy tomorrow's Sunday Herald Sun for a full report, including pictures.
Webber, who drives for Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing, was competing in his own charity event, the Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge, a 250km event comprising mountain biking, kayaking and trekking.
He collided with a Nissan X-Trail on Fortescue Bay Rd, near Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula.
Earlier, search and rescue police officer Damian Bidgood said Webber appeared to have a serious lower leg injury.
“Unfortunately he’s had a head-on,’’ Sgt Bidgood said.
“It will put him out of action for a while.’’
Yeah, seems he broke his leg, and will have to sit out the testing season.
At least it wasn't more serious than that! Phew
BBC's F1 Lineup......
Further to what I posted previously re the BBC's 2009 lineup, I can now tell you that Eddie Jordan will be joining DC as a pundit, and that Murray Walker will return to the BBC sport website as a regular...
Also Ted Kravitz will join Lee McKenzie as pit lane reporters.. I knew that Lee McKenzie was going to the pit lane, but the retention of Kravitz comes as a surprise..
I understand that Lee McKenzie covered A1 last year and has been involved in rallying..(She'd be about your age, deezee.. (or maybe a little older)..
David Coulthard and Eddie Jordan have joined the BBC as part of next year's presentation team in Formula One.
Coulthard, who retired as a race driver at the end of the 2008 season, will join former team boss Jordan as a pundit alongside anchor Jake Humphrey.
Jonathan Legard moves from 5 Live to commentate with ex-F1 driver and award-winning broadcaster Martin Brundle.
And veteran commentator Murray Walker will return to the BBC as a regular presence on the Sport website.
The 84-year-old, who became a household name during five decades of F1 commentary for the BBC, will be offering his expert insight and perspective on the action and interacting with F1 fans through an online Q&A forum.
The pit-lane reporters will be Ted Kravitz and Lee McKenzie.
For Coulthard, who will continue as a test driver and consultant for Red Bull, it will be a first foray into broadcasting after a long and successful Grand Prix career behind the wheel that included 13 victories and runner-up spot in the world championship to Michael Schumacher in 2001.
The 37-year-old Scot said: "After 15 seasons competing in F1, my passion for the sport is still very much alive, and therefore I was delighted to be given the opportunity to share my views and experiences through the BBC coverage of F1.
"Many of the BBC team are known to me already and, for those members new to F1, I look forward to building on the established audience of F1 fans in the UK."
Legard is returning to F1 after four years as 5 Live's football correspondent - he was the radio station's F1 correspondent from 1997 until 2004.
Humphrey switches to F1 having previously worked on the Beijing Olympics and Euro 2008, among other things.
Kravitz, like Brundle, is a former member of ITV's F1 team. McKenzie, the daughter of Daily Express F1 correspondent Bob McKenzie, has been a broadcaster on motor racing and other sports for ITV and Sky Sports.
The BBC has a five-year deal to broadcast F1. It runs from 2009-2013 and includes exclusive rights for TV, radio, online and mobile.
Niall Sloane, BBC head of F1, said: "We have put a fantastic team together and are delighted to be able to offer a comprehensive and engaging Formula One experience.
"This is an exciting sport and we are very much looking forward to next year."
Further details about the BBC's plans for the coming season will be revealed in the new year.
So we'll have two Scot's in the team, Coulthard and McKenzie..
WOO HOO!
I'm so looking forward to that.
(Hoping that Ch 10 sign up with them that is)
Yeah, I hope Ch 10 do the right thing..
You can send Mark Webber a get well message.....
His supporters were invited to send personal messages to feedback@redbullf1.com, "and we'll make sure he gets all your mail", Red Bull added
Awwww.... how sweet.
Guess he needed some reading material to keep him occupied![]()
Whoops.... End of Honda??
Oh dear, poor old Jenson...
Wonder if they'll get a buyer?
This may be the tip of the iceberg regarding teams leaving F1.
Wonder if their Moto-GPwill be affected?
I'm actually very very surprised...
Didn't see this coming at all. Their marketing strategy etc is so entwined with their F1 operations, I really did expect to see them in it forever.
Apparantly their sales are down by about 36% compared with last year (same as Toyota)..![]()
Ferrari should offer Ross Brawn a job....
This is a sad time for F1...If it can happen to Honda, it can happen to anyone..
Well, I think this might be the push racing (as a whole) needed to clean up it's act. Less wastage, less frills, more racing.
Or can F1 not do without the amounts they spend?
Back to basics, at least until we ride out this economic storm..
Lets shelve this bloody KERS thing and the millions of dollars that it will waste to implement it..
And what of the one engine proposal?
Makes sense, but won't be in the 'spirit' of F1
No, the engine manufacturers wouldn't stand for it, although there are whispers that Mercedes and Renault may also be considering their options.![]()
Interesting...
Don't forget that Ferrari is also a relatively small manufacturer, even though it comes under the much larger Fiat umbrella.
Sure. Which makes it worse for them actually.... they couldn't supply, but they definitely wouldn't wanna use someone else's
Exactly!
Autosport.com understands that Honda Racing team principal Ross Brawn and CEO Nick Fry are due to fly to Tokyo on Monday for talks with the Japanese chiefs about the future.
Sources suggest that Honda chiefs have been told that the team will be funded only until March - giving them three months to find a new buyer before they are shut down.
It is understood staff have been told that potential buyers have already been lined up, with Brawn already focused on securing an engine supply deal with Ferrari to try and keep the team in F1.
Looks like there's no going back now..![]()
Wow.... I'm still in shock
And poor Brawn...
Hope he gets the funds to go on. Barrichello too.... he might not get another seat
And it's about time Jensen Button had a change of luck too.
Well who would have thunk that? (isn't Jacques a clever boy),,![]()
Villeneuve says Honda decision 'political'
By Kevin Turner and Edd Straw
Friday, December 5th 2008, 15:45 GMT
Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve believes that Honda's withdrawal from Formula One was primarily driven by a need to be seen to be saving money.
With Honda, like most car manufacturers, suffering from declining sales, Villeneuve thinks the decision is understandable against the current economic backdrop.
Actually, I think it's the wrong decision, if it is the global situation they're concerned about. They should be aiming to be more visible instead of less. Even BMW have posted a loss, as has Toyota if I'm not wrong. I still think they're in a better position than most other companies. It is in times like these that people turn to 'reliable' brands like Honda more.
Ending the F1 association will hit them in the long run I think.
Okay, finally some good news

Yeah well that is some good news, but if things get really bad saving £300-£400 million per year will be a temptation..
Look at it this way.... even if existing sponsors drop out, there'll always be a willing replacement.
