I thought that this deserved it's own topic, as now we have a place to demonstrate our feelings on the FIA, whether they be feelings of love or something else...
Sometime in the next few hours the FIA will meet to choose a new president.
The candidates for election are Jean Todt and Ari Vatanen...
At long last F1 will be rid of the idiocy of the BDSM Fuhrer, Max Mosley..
The odds at present favour the Frenchman (Todt) over the Finnish born (french resident) Vatanen...
Whoever gets the job, it will be an improvement on the incumbent president who has done so much damage to the sport..
Jean Todt has a vast experience with F1, whilst Ari Vatanen is an ex rallying Champion turned politician..
Will be interesting to see how this turns out...
Hopefully we will see a new era of co-operation between FOTA and the FIA...
Well, we can *hope* it'll be better....
But I'll wait and see
As will everyone..![]()

What I meant was that I wouldn't be surprised if nothing changes
What concerns me is the fact that we might not yet be rid of Max and that he will remain in the background pulling the strings...
Maybe we would be better off with Vatanen at the helm, if only for the fact that he is anti Mosley..
But I think that Todt would do a good job, if he is allowed to do so..
LOL
It's sounding like every other govt in the world![]()
James Allen is reporting that Todt won it with a landslide
Hmm, yes he did indeed win in a landslide....
I sincerely hope that he makes a big difference...
Wonder how Luca di Montezemolo feels about it? He worked hard to get rid of Todt and Schumi from Ferrari and he now has Todt as FIA president and there are rumours that Schumi may be the new 'F1Commissioner'..
Forget about Todt doing favours for Ferrari, Luca di' wanted him out because Todt was a strong man and was running the team his way and not listening to Montezomolo..(but that's another story)
These are just some of the countries that have a vote in the FIA presidency....

Do you really think that the members of the Automobile Club of Botswana, Burundi, Rwanda, Bangladesh, Mongolia or Ecuador care if the FIA president is Todt or Vatanen? What difference will it make for them?
Isn't that were the politics come into play?
It's where the vote rigging comes into play..
It's where the (supposedly) honarary positions pay off for the lucky members..
The question for a number of FIA members is purely economic and, (in the case of some of the countries listed above), you can't even apply the term "corruption" to the "sold" votes.
How many chances will they have to travel abroad, stay in a nice hotel and, for once, be pampered for few days, just for casting one name instead of another.
Corruption, you say? Yes, measured with our rich-western-countries standards... No, if your life is in Azerbaijan, or Bolivia, or Botswana. Seen from there this is simply a bet on a duel between rich, spoiled westerners, an opportunity not to be missed and don't call it corruption, In their shoes we'd very probably do the same.
Which is why F1 should be removed from FIA control....

Which is why F1 should be removed from FIA control....
What a silly old mare you are. The governing body can't be removed just because Ferrari are no longer getting their own way, or because you don't like their decisions...
Let the teams run themselves? What twaddle will you grace us with next, oh so-called 'expert on Formula One'...?
Why not scrap FIFA, ICC, IRB? Perhaps even the IOC...
Your septuagenarian ramblings are laughable...
Do you really think that the members of the Automobile Club of Botswana, Burundi, Rwanda, Bangladesh, Mongolia or Ecuador care if the FIA president is Todt or Vatanen? What difference will it make for them?
...and what difference will it make for Australia?
Indy gone...A1GP gone...F1 on it's last legs here, now that a 40million deficit of taxpayers money has been revealed...

...but don't worry folks, we have the V8's...the whole world wants to watch Australian V8 racing...NOT
This is the ass-end of the world. Until we agree to run our races at 8pm our influence with FIA, F1, BE will diminish to nothing...
hahahahaha......

...shit...I'm bored...
Read that.
Change, it would seem, hasn't arrived
Hmmm
An Englishman (or three) openly supporting a froggie is indeed extremely weird...but 'Putin Max' is a definite possibility.
It is mooted that MM is considering going to Singapore to commit a misdemeanour, so that he can have the Rattan for free...
*rolling eyes*
oh yes...and a lot of screaming...I was sent the video...you singos are brutal...
Learnt it from the English
**ouch**
