I was thinking about getting an Asus EEE PC. It looks like a good way to get a machine thats cheap, light and boots fast. Anyone had any experience with one? I understand it will run XP Pro no problem.
I know someone who just got one yesterday, and she's raving about it. Loves it
I have an old Toshiba Libretto that is the size of a VHS tape, but I can't upgrade it anymore (it's 10 years old), but I love the size. I'm gonna get an EEE when I go back to the States in January. Newegg has them for 499 with 8GB and 1GB memory. Gonna put XP on it.
I find it absolutely Georgeus. Don't put XP on it, use Linux first. It's really great! Just try, you'll love it.
Why Linux over XP?
Linux is probably lighter as an O/S. Does Hamachi and VNC run on it? I need both for remote access otherwise I'll load XP.
and apparently Gnome already has a VNC server built in, if you're using a different desktop environment then you need to go to the crazy lengths of installing one.
