Hey everyone, just wondering what MMORPG i should go with!? I thought either Everquest or WOW? I hear though that WOW gets boring quickly!? What do you think? And what MMORPG do you play?

    2006-12-17 15:19:58.0

    WOW

    2007-01-04 16:33:40.0

i think every MMORPG gets boring at one point or another but WOW has enough end game content to keep you on track to reaching level 60

    2007-01-04 16:34:36.0

Eh, MMORPGs...don't play WOW or Everquest (though I think there's some sort of free version of Everquest). An MMORPG I had recommended to a friend was Trickster Online....that was until he got addicted and obsessed with it. Now I'm disgusted.

    2007-01-31 20:15:45.0

yeah, if I retired 2moro, I'd take a month off and play WOW.

    2007-01-31 20:16:18.0

hehe too bad KC plays more then you mick:P

    2007-01-31 20:17:18.0

    she plays more, And better.

    2007-01-31 20:21:38.0

    haha ... you will L2P

    2007-01-31 20:23:34.0

Some people are so addicted they dont get off WoW all day.....its a sad world!

    2007-01-31 22:18:36.0

yeah i know ... i know some people that have done nothing for the past two weeks since burning crusades but play and play

    2007-01-31 22:20:48.0

MMORPGs piss me off. Not only do I dislike any kind of RPG in general, it's amazing that people can get so easily addicted to them. You take out the ability to advance in rank, and MMORPGs have no appeal. Simple as that.

    2007-01-31 22:42:35.0

Yeah...I think the only reason why people play MMORPGS nowadays is to level up...that's about it.

    2007-01-31 23:06:17.0

Yeah i dont play MMORPG's i just like the normal RPG's like Gothic 1,2,3  and others.....i can't think of them. Lol.

    2007-01-31 23:13:29.0

MMORPGs aren't even that interesting and gets boring as bat shit, but people get addicted to the gathering of equipment for the character.  So they have to run through these long ass dungeons that take 4 hours to get a possible drop of a sword.

    2007-02-01 14:26:17.0

You get annoying equipment for your character in some ridiculous "medieval" background when magic existed and watching stuff flying isn't the result of brain-altering chemicals but were actually real. Uh-huh. And you get this equipment to get more equipment. Then, you brag to your friends about an arbitrary number (a level) showing how much time you wasted.

    2007-02-01 22:07:30.0

hehe thats exactly why i think some people i know play for

    2007-02-01 22:10:21.0

You are all correct.  That's why I'm waiting for http://www.darkfallonline.com

It's not about leveling up.. the game is skill based.  Puts the CONTENT back in the MMORPG and the game isn't simply about who's played the longest.  Any item in the game can possibly be player crafted.  Granted this game has been in development for over 6 years now (I'm registered on the forums from 2002) but it's definitely not vaporware and I eagerly await it:)

    2007-03-01 05:32:02.0

Darkfall sounds good, though it has been in development for a while, six years is how long they worked on vanguard, and even then they've only released it now because they were running out of money.

Frankly, I've played a lot of MMOs and they all have a hard time keeping you for the end game. Either they keep rasing then cap, or they just add new content. I got bored after playing Asheron's Call for six years (it was a first generation MMO, along with Ultima Online and Everquest). The ones I did like best were those that were unique, like Eve which is great but takes a lot of time, and those that are FPS like Planetside. I know a few more FPS MMOs are coming out like Huxley and Tabla Rosa, but both of those aren't purely based on personal skill and will still contain RPG elements (i.e. a higher level will have an advantage over a lower level), where are planetside was unique in that a new characters killing potential was just as great as a higher level. The only difference was that a higher level could diversify their equipment (guns, vehicles).

Now I'm just waiting for Project Offset, it's the only game close to an MMO that I'm looking forward to.

Darkfall sounds cool. Is it worth paying for a game though? I'm not sure, i guess they do have heaps of content. I'm happy right now with Guild Wars, its free and its huge!

    2007-03-04 01:56:15.0

I'm also looking forward to The Witcher

    2007-03-04 01:56:30.0

    Its a RPG

    2007-03-04 01:56:41.0

    and it looks pretty sweet!

    2007-03-04 01:56:50.0

Well Darkfall has kept me waiting since Feb 2002 so I think it's worth it:)

    2007-03-05 03:24:07.0

    Yeah 2002 thats a long time,lol

    2007-03-05 23:46:33.0

I just found a new MMO which i think is worth waiting until October, its called Age Of Conan. Up to level 20 it is all single player then it turns into a MMO. And the combat system is contolled by you which sounds good!

    2007-05-14 02:09:33.0

i've read about it and it sounds amazing ... i can't wait either

    2007-05-14 05:09:57.0

how is the combat system controlled by you?

    2007-05-14 05:10:05.0

I'm waiting patiently for Guild Wars 2... 2009 baby... LOTR: Online is looking good too (and a few good reviews)

    2007-05-14 12:01:42.0

My wording wasnt particually good there. Instead like most MMO's where you just watch your person fight and you pick skills. In this you actually controlle the combat and i ment by saying that you can swing your weapon wherever you chose. It sounds great!

    2007-05-14 14:44:22.0

that would be awesome ... so does that mean you can hit any part of them and that would affect their abilities, like if i hit the legs they would slow down?

    2007-05-14 17:28:37.0

I have no idea about that one, but that would be great! All i really know is that you are able to control your character to do all type of different swings and combine them to make different combo's! Here's a video of combat!

    2007-05-15 01:41:56.0

Well just a general video, but it has a section of combat!

    2007-05-15 01:51:08.0

Ive been thinkin about playing Guild Wars cuz its free. But is it as enjoyable and rewarding as other MMORPGs?

    2007-05-15 17:39:49.0

It sounds really great metallica, it'll be hard to get it to work properly though ( I can imagine awesome street brawls breaking out)

    2007-05-22 11:23:07.0

hahaha, that would be awesome. Yeah i'm looking forward to it!

    2007-05-23 00:43:59.0

I've found an MMORPG to avoid all of the "only play to gain skills" and "it gets boring once you get to the top" - Eve online:)

I find it set apart from other MMO's beacause you don't play to gain skills, skills are gained in real time, so skill training is all about choosing what to train.

Then for items, you can play the concept of get the best item, but you can also ignore getting money and such things (all thouugh you have to for a small extent) and just play to PVP out in territories you own with many other people in "corporations" which form together to make "alliances"

An dthat is where the game is actually fun, not just try and get the best charecter you can.......

    2007-06-01 17:20:18.0

To Inanimatethinker: Guild Wars, to me, is a very enjoyable game. There's loads of content seeing as there is now 3 explansions(and another coming out this year and a planned sequel). The graphics are some of the best out there for this type of game. I've been playing for about 6 months, and i still love it. And thats just playing the Roleplaying part of it! The PVP is supposed to be great(i plan on playing PVP soon). So with no monthly fee i would say you cant go wrong with it!   XP

    2007-06-01 18:51:02.0

I just stick to the idiot proof free mmorpg's myself but I stopped playing them recently. I just lost interest.

    2007-10-24 04:26:46.0

I'm semi-addicted to Rappelz. It's "free forever" which is pretty much true.  You can play through without ever having to pay a cent.  But some items you can only get in the store with "gpotato" which is points you buy (with real money).  So if you want to get some cool stuff, you have to pay out.  I've been playing it for a few weeks now and I do like it.  Not for the "i have to get to the next level so I can beat higher level monsters so I can get to the next level..." stuff, but when there's a party that actually works together to accomplish some quest and not just make a party and then have the other people do the work for them.  Plus I find it quite amusing to see a female holy warrior (yeah I play one of my characters as a chick because the male holy warriors look aweful) bashing in monsters with a large mace... Doesn't seem all that holy to me.  Although it's currently having issues with the ingame economy because people are selling/buying in game currency for real money.  But that's a whole other topic.

I am sure this will just be a fad for me and then I'll get back to playing games I'm more used to, like team fortress 2:)

    2007-10-30 07:28:22.0

The problem with Runescape is that its not really skill involved...more endurance. Theres a new mmorpg out, only really available in the UK but I guess you could play it anywhere. Its called Roma Victor and each player is a citizen of either rome or Britain and you fight each other. Looks great. Very original.
