That'd be about halfway if you were going to take on the Kennedy Development Highway where you pretty much drive to Winton and turn left. The more urbane way if such a word could be extrapolated in the negative direction for that particular region would be through Mt Isa and on the Barkley Highway to the three ways and then turn left. That way you can reduce your chances of death in the event of a breakdown from certain to probable. That said I reckon through Bourke (NSW) then through channel country and Lake Eyre would be the best way to go. Though death would be guaranteed you may as well top yourself before you leave and save a few bucks on fuel. With respect to moisture content ...the Thomson R just up the road from Ilfracombe has been periodically high recently. Similarly in most of the Longreach pubs it'd be fairly high.

Morgan you can always hook in to the goons handing out shyte at the polls today. But I suppose that may not happen often enough.

  • Inception

The missus was wanting to go see Sex in the City but was disappointed to find out it wasn't on anymore. I suggested she might have to go see it in the Provincial Town.

  • Stop. Is it night where you are?

Yep. 6:42pm. The moon and venus are very close in the western sky.

  • Got done by the 5-0

... for obscurring the rear plates with bikes yesterday.

Constable: "Any reason for obscurring your number plates and failure to display a Queensland Transport issued auxialliary plate on the bike rack Sir? Sir do you realise it is an offence to render your vehicle undetectable to devices such as speed and red light cameras?"

Me: (I didn't say much but was thinking many things ...)

    1) Queensland Transport is NOT OPEN ON A SATURDAY OR SUNDAY!
    2) The only time I could possible trigger a speed camera is in a school zone and as above IT'S FRIGGIN SUNDAY!
    3) The only time I could possibly trigger a red light camera is when I'm third in the queue, the light turns green, amber then red by the time I get to the line. PRETTY DANGEROUS STUFF!

Then the filthy arsehole trys to get all chummy like he's doing me a lemon flavour and lets me off with just an $80 fine as the driver of the car. Told me as the owner I was liable for a $320 fine but today was my lucky day. Awesome. Maybe the clemency kicked in when he could taste the food he was taking from the mouths of two children visible in the back seats. He looked like he ate all the pies too.

The heat was on from the outset and I haven't been targeted like that for decades. I knew I was going to get done for something because he passed by the front on his motorbike while I waited on a T intersection then stopped and waited till I passed him.

Worst part was I was doing the back streets just to avoid the very thing. Was near Keperra Station which is generally a hub of delightful people. I bet there would have been three or four young hoods spray painting their insipid pretend street names on the Station House as the transaction took place. What happens to them? Nothing. I'm the stupid bar steward less likely to tell him to fuck off more likely to have something to lose ... ie. the $80 in my pocket. In summary you could say I got fined for willingly impairing the ability to be fined for offences that I'm not exactly capable of committing in the first place. Say what you like about cameras but this is undisputable revenue raising.

Truth is I was shitting broken glass. I had my feet  tactically positioned over the huge crack at the bottom of the footwell. I reckon he could have emptied the ink from two pens writing defective vehicle tickets. Suppose I was lucky he was a bit of a Constable Johnny No Stars.

As you can imagine by this blurt I'm pretty pissed off.

This is a pretty amazing Australian company having a crack at something new while winding up Google and giving us something no one else in Australia has even thought of doing.

  • Mechanic, anyone?

Ok, so took my car to a radiator expert today. He flushed out my entire system, replaced the coolant, replaced the thermostat, replaced a clamp on one of the hoses that had a tiny leak (detected with pressure testing, not visible to me obviously) and replaced the cap on the radiator too. He's run it through all it's paces and fixed or replaced pretty much everything on it that he could.

That all sounds fairly intrusive MOrgan. Did he look at your car as well?
