"It's really no big deal here in Aust, whether the UK has more olympic medals or not!"

Good one...I know how difficult they make it for young folk to pass in the UK. My son tried so many times and kept failing, but found it straightforward shortly after he got to Australia. Being in the Oz Army and being based in Darwin, might have helped a little...

I expect this has been brought up before, but I haven't seen it...Just want to thank Tangler for allowing us great unwashed to more or less say what we think, argue, bicker, wind up and be completely un-PC in most instances.
I have looked in on some open forums where the participants just post foul language, personal hatred, racism and such...not pleasant...
There are also forums such as http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/?tag=WP_ForumRules where the level of moderation is way over the top.
It is obviously better to have some rules than none at all, but there would be very few of us left if Tangler was modded to the degree found in the link above. Some of us belong to private topics where we can be really naughty. This is fine when the participants are used to each others nonsense.Open topics here attract a fair bit of iffy stuff. I know that I am guilty as charged, and many times over, but generally the tone is friendly, often highly amusing and so not PC...Tangler is to be commended for generating the right amount of camaraderie by not modding us...
What do others think?

A couple of weeks back we had the media beat-up over the Bill Henson photographs in a Sydney art gallery which were removed by the police, condemned by the Prime Minister as pornographic and subsequently had to be returned to the gallery following a legal decision in their favour.
Now a similar thing is happening. The media and again the prime Minister, are screaming child abuse about the cover of this months Art Monthly Australia. Apparently the child depicted is/was 6 years old at the time.
Additional facts are that it was produced in 2003 and has been shown in exhibitions throughout Australia and in New York for 5 years.
Now the press has shown it on all the evening news programs, enabling every nonce, and his dog, to know where to look to find it.
It is sad times we live in when parents are not allowed to video their own children at school sports day, or to take snaps of their kids on the beach.
I don't know if it is art or something else, but to me it is just a nice picture to look at and then move on.
