  • 2008 US Presidential Elections

CNN is running its projections on actual counts rather than on the exit polls after being burned in 2004 by actuals that were very different from the exit poll results..

  • Which is better, seahorses or English people?

Re: "Their ultimate goal is to find the best thing in the world!"

quite impossible quest of course.  There are valid constructs where

A>B and B>C yet C>A ... so in these cases how could they ever find the best of this group without even extending it to the world at large.  But watching them behave like a dog chasing its own tale could be somewhat interesting.

  • Things that make me go... hmmm

I'm using Particls to bring me a stream of information relevant to my business and personal interests... and although i use the "watch words" to constrain most of my selections as much as possible, two words that I rank highly are pretty generic... they are the town/city that my two sons reside in... so I capture a lot more than I need... but I get a pretty good idea of local happenings that I can ask/talk about when they call.

But what makes me go hmmm...  I'm finding that for news of my son living in Winnipeg Canada  the stories actually come to me by way of Australia..  Why for example would this post that I got the link to today be news in Australia but not, as far as I know, have made the newswires here in Canada at all (at least Google News only shows the story being carried in Australia and South Africa)?

    From "The Australian"

    Porno Pizza doing brisk business

A NEW pizza restaurant in western Canada that delivers pornography with every pie has once again proven the adage: sex sells.

Porno Pizza in Winnipeg has been doing brisk business since opening last week, titillating the hungry with racy pictures at the bottom of every pizza box.

  • 10 places to go before you die.

The Bric thinks 43 things is good... but 43 places is even better....You'll find the Bric on each!  Besides the 43 Places I want to go to, I've listed some 937 places I've already been....[as for 43 things... I have 42 on the list to do; and 170 on the "done" list so far] ... nothing like a few years under the belt to give you a chance to do a few things Wink

  • What's the worst thing you've eaten?

Been there, done that.... but at least they didn't tell me so in a fortune cookie.... (actually dekrazee1, I think you might have shown a touch of dyslexia on your post..... surely you meant ROLF ?)

  • One for the (anti)conspiracists

    • ahhh but in the 20% what a difference.
    • It does not follow at all that because things are predictable at one level that predictability carries upwards.  In fact, none of the 'strangest' of quantum level effects arise in the macro-world.
    • sub-atomic life is not deterministic, predictable, etc. --- While aggregate behavior of billions of entities at this level exhibit probabilistic behavior that can be tracked with some precision within limits of what we know (note at the individual level, Heisenburg's Uncertainly principle seems to hold true despite our best efforts to 'sneak around the limits imposed by imperfect measurement processes on an objective understanding of 'reality' - at this level the best we can hope for is probabilistic measures)
