I can't say I have ever been in that situation my self, however I did have a friend who was and  did get all of the benefits: occasional companionship, regular nights out, meals together, trips to the cinema or theatre and of course the non-committal casual emotionally uninvolved sex.

I seriously don't believe there really is any such thing as a "Friend with benefits" (I don't like the phrase Fuck Buddy) like all relationships not built on some firmer ground one person always ends up wanting something else when the other  usually doesn't. My experience of being dumped after he said " youve been with so and so..." after months of saying, dont love me...this is nothing confirms this. I hate him now. The start of the school year in the UK is in September, so within each year you have a spread of kids with birthdays from the September that year to the August of the next year (since you enter school on the first Sept after your birthday)

With an August birthday, the "next" September is very soon, so you start school at a younger age compared to those with a September birthday, and that extra time can help a kid... there's been some study or other about it (anecdotal I know, but it also makes sense).

No carpets on my floors.  All of them are nice beech boards and I have the heating underneath.  Lovely and warm on the feet.  There are a few rugs but they don't last too long, especially with Marvin around.

I keep myself to myself too... you'd find it hard to tie together my various online presences unless you happened to coincidentally know me in both places, and from there it'd be hard again to tie it back to me as a person (again, unless you knew me in person anyway).

Several years ago (is a fit of lunacy) I signed up to a site that would find your old school friends.

Like an idiot I gave my real name and various schools I attended..  It turned out much the same  as Rusky described... All the dickheads I had no time for in those days wanted to renew acquaintances with me..

I really should have known better, as I am still in touch with all the people who were my real friends, albeit that it may only be the occasional email, phone call or Christmas card. (unless I run into them at funerals)
