I'm having a bad typing day.... averaging abt 50 today
What's yours?
wow I suck today too only 48 words per minute![]()
Come, I found a way for us to practice typing....
On first try, dek's score was 37 580
Beat that!![]()
you did I only got 21050
but its my new favorite thing!!!
hehehe yeah... I'll go for a second round after I restart my comp
I got about 76 WPM - I normally average about 80.
hmmm... so we're all having a bad typing day eh?
My excuse is that I just got up!
Ahhh... yeah, I can use the opposite excuse....
I'M TIRED!
Yeah tired works for me
I got 94340 on Qwerty Warriors (starting on easy mode)
Fwaaah!
That's it, I have to go again!
First (and last try) 42,020
Made it to 56 000, but have to go now
About 60 wpm on a bad day, 80 on a really good day.
I did a communicators course back in the 1970's. I had to type at 30 words per minute and Morse at 15 words per minute. I've no idea what my current morse speed is (not much use for that since the Empire closed down) but my typing is still 30 WPM...
31 WPM on the Zebras
Is 30 mistakes per minute a good speed?
hahahaha yesh.... it means you're going fast enough to make that many mistakes![]()
I typed this sentence in less than a second, im so fast, and no-one can beat me. thank god for copy and paste.
Cheater!
i'm not very fast - i started typing this response yesterday
ROFL!
I got Zero, nada, nothing. I'm sure I can do better.
BTW, I started typing this yesterday...
121 WPM back in 8th grade middle school (Not Joking Either). Like, 5 or 6 years ago? I'm afraid to find out what speed I type at now
I was a major tech geek back then.... and look at me now! AHHHHH
My parents say it is impossible for me to type as fast as I do, yet they stare on in amazement when I'm at the computer![]()
Gah, I was supposed to be going to sleep now :| Owell, I had my moment to brag, now I'm going to run and hide in a little ball.
Actually, believe it or not but my mother once held the Australian speed typing record at 214 WPM (on an electric typewriter). She taught me everything I know... which amounts to 62 WPM.
Anyone know what the average is?
I think its between 28 and 38
Really??
Oh!
I'm above average then!
hehe cool
I bet most people are slower cos they have crap keyboards... keyboards matter
This morning's speed - 58 WPM
See, told you I was having a bad day!![]()
I hate crap keyboards, and the ones that have a tiny delete key, ewwwww
yeah.... and spongy keys
bleh
haha yeah, they suck. I used to have a big old dell keyboard, made the loudest sounds when you typed but was so fluid.
My fav was first my logitech, then microsoft keyboard, and then finally, now, the lappie keyboard - in increasing order of fluidity
Guess they're getting better at keyboard design.... now if only they could make it more comfy
28 wpm and i expected no better
I learnt on a big old heavy manual typewriter. If you can type on one of those you can type on anything!
I started on those too, and I used to type with one finger....
When I later got to high school, they tried to teach us touch typing on comp keyboards - so now mine is a mish mash of touch typing and one finger typing
My mum was a touch typist and had books with diagrams showing where you were meant to put your fingers so I learnt touch typing with those. They never taught us anything like typing at school. I guess they never expected it to be quite so important!
For sure.... In my day, we only learnt it at the high school stage.... my bro, just 10 yrs younger than I, had a full computer class at kindergarden! He knew what a CPU was before I did.... honest
Olivetti key boards.
Get one for your PC or Mac.
That's it.
Why the recommendation? Soft Keys?
I said "That's it"
Go try one out.
Italians understand sensual ergonomics.
Does trying one out include emptying my bank account?
No...hahahaha...... it shouldn't.
Try one in the shop.
Even then a board won't cost you.
Some rocks erode from the wind quicker than I can type. It takes me an obsurdley long time to type anything.
hahahaha Naaaah, I don't believe that![]()
practice make perfect and these games are addicting to keep the practice up
My typing speed is seen to be believed!
Found another kill-time-game
This one is pretty satisfying in that you get to bash ice blocks![]()
hahah I love it!!! good times! Get all that frustration out from the day on ice blocks!
Check it out!

It’s a USB words-per-minute display that’s also a plastic mouse on an exercise bike. The more words you type per minute, the faster this little guy goes, never mind the fact that this anorexic rodent looks like he needs a sandwich more than cardio.
I'm so tickled by this!! I'd love to have a go!
Brilliant...an ideal Christmas gift!
That's brilliant.
They should do one with a hamster in a wheel that relies on current your bit speed.
*Thinks....* perhaps to mechanically tricky
Hamster Wheel!!

LOL!!!
I wonder if I put that at the correct position - It might help cool my comp down...
hmmmm
Im sure somewhere theres a hamster living in my pc.
Oh.... too cool![]()
Now, where do I get one (or several)?
Found you the site: http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/new-arrivals/usb-hamster-wheel/index.html#top
But it's sold out![]()
Maybe you could make do with this JR -

That is a great website.
hahahaha So it is![]()
Mine's about 60-ish, but It's 23:25 at night![]()
excuses excuses....
hehe![]()
is it a coinkydink that after just seeing Pseudyx's post on all things hamster i click on this topic and it shows me . . . . "Hamster Wheel" from Sir Montagues post? Should i be worried that Tangler might be tracking my interest in Hamsters? Will a file be kept under "Excess Interest In Hamsters"?
Don't worry, Tangler isn't Facebook![]()
I've never encountered the word 'coinkydink' in my life
never? i think it was something i picked up off one of my friends - not sure where it came from. Although after a google search it looks like it is american in origin (but i don't have the time to search more thoroughly)
Really never.... I'd remember a word like that one!
I say thingimajig.
I say thingamyjig. Least I think thats how its spelt.
i say thingy
Shorten the syllables, save the earth
Just for fun and enlightenment FYI
"Coinkydink' is an ancient form of the word "coincidence" going all the way back to early Rome... Or er...early Hollywood sound movies - or "Talkies". When - the first Hollywood actors, of lesser edoomacation, who had only ever starred in silent movies, first had to start reading, learning and reciting actual scripts and lines, some could not say coincidence but said 'coinkydink', or variations thereof......and hence the slightly "cruel" quip 'coinkydink' which in itself was amusing and so, has persisted.
Also the word "edoomacation"
I thought edumacation came from that song. Really!
JR, are you having a "long-winded-politically-correct-pedantic-post-a-friggin'-book-day" ??
Every topic I read has something big and factual in it.....It's a conspiracy to make my hangover worse isn't it?? How dare you try and make me think!!
I only seek to illuminate...for my own amusement, if nothing else. BTW I didn't get you drunk![]()
