Whilst eating corn for dinner last night I was watching the Amazing Race and the Americans had to go to the Ghengis Khan Hotel, at least two of them pronounced it Jengis. Which I thought was funny.
Jengis?
You have got to be kidding me. The guy didn't kick ass all over Asia, leave behind an empire that conquered most of Eurasia (from Eastern Europe to China) and become the great-great-(etc)-granddad to 0.5% of the entire male population, just to get his name pronounced wrong by some stupidheads in America.
Funnily enough my grandmother brags that we have Ghengis' blood running through us and we are Lithuania.
Jengis Khan? Wasn't he that guy who was able to keep a tower of blocks balancing the longest? It's amazing how many chicks a world champion at something can pull . . .
ROFL!
When I watch the Amazing Race, I'm always astounded by how little the contestants know...
Think they're picked on purpose?
No? I thought they were just average americans?
(not having seent the show at all)
Most TV shows, you have to hope they're picking the dumb ones just to keep yourself sane and not give up all hope in humanity
Probably some self-selection in there too - the clever people who are busy making the world go round don't spend their time trying to get on TV
I would not know that.... but many of them, the contestants, seem to know next to nothing
@Super-King Actually, the Amazing Race is the one show I'd consider trying for
not to put the citizens of the US down or anything but sometimes that show does get some idiots. I used to make excuses for them - "well, the US is a bloody big country with quite a few cities to remember and such a diverse range of climates and terrain so maybe they are kept busy trying to remember all that stuff before moving onto the world".
They'd have to do some kind of test to show they can get around a bit - otherwise some poor cameraman is gonna be stuck following a couple of dufusii (or is it dufuses?) around some place watching them slowly scream each other to death.
Yeah, what's with all the screaming??
That really irks me
