I'm not sure actually.... Sometimes I take a break from the comp on Saturdays, but I still use it for simple things like checking the tv schedule and urgent email....
So I haven't signed up yet. Will think about it somemore

I have to set 3 alarms on my phone, PLUS the *beep*beep* loud clock-radio one to get me up, and STILL, i dont wake up sometimes!!

I had a pretty offline day yesterday
I'll do it depending on the weather.... if I can go outside then i will, but i'm not going to evade the comfort of my home for the occasion if its cold or rainy.
And considering that my lappie is my tv, radio, (almost my mobile phone), etc, and i dont have any books or other non-techy entertainment with me at the moment (damn removalists) its gonna be difficult

I'd probably just busy myself with the spring cleaning I never did 6 months ago
If I have other stuff to do then I don't feel a pressing need to be on the internet instead... it's there to fill the gaps between other things. Whether I could "survive" 24 hours without it is a little over dramatic in its phrasing (obviously no-one's going to drop dead from internet-withdrawal) but if it were forcibly removed I'd probably get bored for a while then find something else to do.
I question the idea that we're all a bunch of hopeless internet addicts - it's an incredibly useful tool for some things and a great means of entertainment, it'd be like saying we're addicted to cars because they're so useful for going from place to place, or addicted to clothing because its so good at covering those parts of ourselves we prefer to hide.
Sure, we could easily survive without cars or clothing (weather permitting) but no-one feels the need to decry them as an addiction

I shall be going on holiday for 2 weeks soon. I'll find out then how well i cope without my precious machine.

SK - I think it might be considered an addiction when we pick the net over other activities (even sleep). I know I've done that before. I do get fairly obsessed sometimes

Hello peeps, I have returned from the glories of holiday....
....and I survived.
Actually, I more than survived. Considering that I used my computer everyday I was expecting to have some rather severe withdrawal symptoms. But surprisingly I didn't give it much thought at all (except when i saw all those poor people sat at the hotel terminals, feeding Euros into the slot, just so they could browse their facebook accounts......so sad).
Same applies to newspaper, mobile and tv. Normally these would be a daily requirement, just to make sure I'm not missing out on something good, but none of these featured during the 2 weeks and I didn't feel the need to to read/use/watch any of them.
Not at all what i expected.
To sum it up....
if i can, i will......if i can't, i'll do something else and not worry about it.
that's great. so are you feeling rejuvenated after your holiday?

Yeah, I think that when we have our comp access taken away from us (for whatever reason) we look for and find other things to do.

just make sure to wait 60 seconds after shut down, before you start them up again.
Hmm.... have just discovered how difficult it is to push the ON button when your fingers are switched off and not responding.
When my keyboard is not responding i hit it with my fingers.
Try reversing the process - your keyboard should punch your fingers.
If nothing happens -
find your fists' guaranty.

Nope, we have all kinds of other ISPs to hate
Like Virgin... they've been really hateable recently with their stance on net neutrality and p2p (they don't like either of them and aren't afraid to say so publicly)
Luckily we're not with them, we're with Talktalk, which would be ok (they're giving away free broadband with the phone package, can't complain) if the speed and reliability was up to scratch.
I'd like to find one ISP, anywhere in the world, that their customers love.
They're as bad as banks and insurance companies....
Apparently Be do a good line in broadband - actually giving you the kind of service they sell you and such.
It's really not a good sign that "you get what they promised you, and what you paid for" puts them above most ISPs.
This is why most ISPs are hated...
I like iiNet so far... they provide good, fast, naked at a [reasonable] price.

Sir M Upgraded to Montague Manor mkII and changed ISP as well. Took a while to get things up and running.
Early indications are showing connection is 3.5 times faster.

I am listening to the speaking clock, making it look like I'm working. For anyone in australia just dial 1194. However, it hangs up on you after 1 min. how rude.
It used to go ad infinitum once, but the last few years it has been cutting out after aboout 1 min, so you've got to set your clock (after the third beep) the first time.
It's still so rude. LOL
Can you imagine all the lonely people who used to call, just to hear a voice. Then, all of a sudden, *click*

on mine it says o and m are spelling mistakes, but g is fine
To be precise, mine flags i m o u and w as errors, until you hit enter and go to a new line, then it removes the red squiggly lines. All other letters get no red squiggles at all.
Don't think mine can spell, it didn't flag any errors.
