    Wow....

I understand why they did it...

but the fact that science can do it kinda blows me away

It would be a hard for the parents to make a decision on this.

I think if I were the child I would be better off dead, but I can understand the love that the parents would still have for her.  (the problem is what happens when the parents cannot look after her any more)?

That is very upsetting, and it makes you realise just how lucky you are.

    yeah.... for sure

I get it and then I dun get it.  As caregivers you'd face that same issues with a boy - would the conclusion be the same - I wonder.

In the Special Needs one of the major causes of injury among caregivers is due to carrying heavy individuals off the bed to somewhere else.

It's scary about the possibilities that this opens up. I mean I can see abuse in MS patients for example.

Once again bring up the point about how people tend to use science as a definitive conclusion. I mean how can the doctor absolutely guarantee that there is no potential side effects of the hormones that could actually affect her quality of life in the long run.

i don't agree with the whole thing ....

Well, abuse would come into play if you subscribe to the 'slippery slope' argument...

Otherwise, this could just be approached as one case and within context. The parents considered their options, and took the best option for them and their children.  No one is saying, yeah, lets go around doing the same to everyone else...

i wouldn't want to be the one to have to make this sort of choice.

But than again if she does have the intellect of a baby, her becoming a grown women and litterally as naive as a baby, may possibly be scarier. If she was let to grow and become the woman, would society than be able to accept or rather know how to deal with her?

IMO society doesn't have to deal with her, so they/we should just stay out of it... It's a personal choice
