I never start up my computer as its always on! good ol' macs! I always have adium open, now more thanever I have to have flash and photoshop and neooffice open, then is firefox, itunes and occassionally songbird.

I have a Windows PC that's always on - it's running Ventrillo Server, Virtual PC (Linux partition with sshd, apache, squid), and MS Outlook to parse my home email.

It's been on for years - I only recently bought a new one when the fan on the old one started going South.

It doesn't even have a monitor on it - I use Remote Desktop to use it
