so often i go to beaches which look great in the pics and then are just plain crap when you get there...anyone have any favourites which are great in real life... photo editing sucks... (as do jellyfish and sharks!) i thought boracay was nice but need some more ideas for the next vacation!
I go the beach that is part of my past. Sure it has changed in 25 years, but it is what I know.
i want clean, blue water, no killer animals, not too many people, nice food around.... everyone knows the drill .... paradise lah!
75 mile beach, Fraser Island, Qld, Australia.
Although there is a presence of sharks.
Noosa Main beach, Noosa Heads Qld. Particularly when Bill the Shave Ice man is on duty. Around Sydney, I like Pearl Beach on the central coast.
last time i was in noosa 6 people got caught in a rip in front of me... one by one they tried to rescue the others, unfailingly getting caught themselves.... life guards jet ski with multimple handles got em out like mackrel on hooks!
Last time I was at Noosa's Main there was a nasty algae infestation. Try Little Cove or National (Park) up the road if you can get a car park. Or take the walk to A-Bay for some good old fasioned nudity.
Yeah, there is a bit of a rip there, as I had to swim parallel down the beach once to get back in. A-bay is great, and my fav walk on the morning is through the park to it.
Here is my favourite...water is a little cooler than here in Oz but there are no nasty surprises and 38K of sand without a house in sight. The South Beach at Cahore Point. Of course, Stephen Spielberg made a terrible mess of it a few years back.
wow... is it safe to swim in places like that?
its ireland????
It is Ireland and it is perfectly safe. I've swam there literally hundreds of times. Why wouldn't it be safe (except during movie making
) ?
haha intitially i thought it was oz so i was thinking rips and sharks... such a wuss ... ireland wow... always wanted to go now two more reasons... cricket and beaches
Any beach without ppl is good.... animals are ok
careful....I might bark again
Peppermint Beach, WA.
South of WA. Sun sets over it, can still drive 4WDs on it, can still walk dogs on it, can still walk on it and see no one at some times of day.
careful....I might bark again
HAHAHAHAHA
We could take you for walks Rira.![]()
Double Island Point.
This is a nice spot.
4wd access only.
The north shore of Noosa is about 1/2 hour south (down the beach on the left).
The cliffs of Rainbow Beach's coloured sands on the right. Town of Rainbow Beach about 15 minutes to the north west (off the right of picture).
WOW
you have just offended my environmental sensibilities...with your 4WD on beach
Kasta: ROFL!
...but you can take me for a walk anytime
you have just offended my environmental sensibilities...with your 4WD on beach
You prefer skyscrapers?

What's ROFL mean?!
What harm does a 4WD do?
I'm waiting for the onslaught. WAIT. Ducking.![]()
ROFL = Rolling on the floor laughing
I thought it was a particular sounding bark!
Hastily leaving now. Have excuse. 5-year-old will be waiting at school, dejected in yard if I don't go now.
HAHAHAHAHHH!!!! that was so cute kasta....innocence at its best!
HAHAHAHAHA
ROFL ROFL (read ruf ruf
)
Is new caledonia nice? good place for watersports/nice beaches?
4wd compresses the sand. And mushes the nice sand crabs/turtle eggs. Beaches can be delicate.
Mushy crab would make good sushi.

Trebarweth (sp?) Strand in Cornwall England.
Cornwall? Really?
Have you been to Australia?
Cornwall is probably good to surf if you're a seal. I was in Torquay (UK, not Vic) once and they had all the signs up for the "english riviera". It was April and there was snow on the beach. Didn't look fun to me.
Cornish beaches are quite beautiful. Believe it or not Mick - they ccan get quite hot too. Gulf stream delivers a different climate to much of Britain.

Ha ha
Is that the same for areas in Wales? Around Pembrokeshire? My brother-in-law surfs there. I want to get him over here and get in the water here. He'd love it.
My sister-in-law has always had dreams of living here - I reckon if I could get him here and on a beach he'd want to move.
Hey surfers - what's the best surfing beach in Sydney or close? What about a regional one?

Not a very good shot - but Chedi / Amanpuri beach in Phuket is pretty nice.
Again awful shot but Palm Beach, north of Sydney is my spiritual beach home:
It's the one on the left. Would like to be walk (or if necessary) be carried down there for one last moment of reflection before I die.
Better photograph although colour is a bit off. This one is taken from the southern end looking north:
Main beach Noosa Heads.
Port Stephens...

ha ha ha! I've been there, was less crowed![]()
You look great in that ha Rira!

There's always Santa Cruz Beach in Northern California. Sort of Brighton Pier kinda place with a California flavour.
Oh. They're all so nice. I reckon I only get to the beach 3 or 4 times a year (unless we go on holiday and it's every day). SIGH.
Sending ...
