As a football player I have a history of knee surgery ( 7 times) and have also been a runner for more than 20 years. I am always looking for the trick to allow me/help me run more and run regularly. ![]()
I have run several marathons and have found that my knees are in much better shape as a result of the running and activity. I hope to keep doing it and keep MY KNEES and help others overcome some leg issues.![]()
I have recently found that careful warmup and stretching of my calves and ankles has given my knees some relief. Like suspension and shocks on a car the ankles and calf muscles absrob a lot of impact and give my knees some relief from the potential abuses of running.
I have dealt with minor leg issues by addresing running style and stride.
Landing a little more forward on my feet has limited the impact my legs/knees feel as I run. Avoiding the heel strike so popular for so many years.
Knees are fine i occasionally struggle with Plantar fasciitis ( I double checked spelling on Wiki...)
When it flares I get ankle pain on other foot- I know why that happens but how to deal with the foot problems?
Got some help with experts at a running store. had great info and ideas on shins, hip and knees.
Shoes also helped but other knowledge was collected there.
Ice what a special/easy tool. Twisted my ankle and soaked for next 24 hours and pain down to nothing
Bathtub filled with cold water and and an 8 lb bag of ice- is wonderful for pain an REALLY cools you off in summer.
