Pitch, Hit & Run Competition @ Grandview
WHAT IS IT?
PITCH, HIT & RUN is a FREE program for youngsters ages 7-14*, designed to encourage youth
participation in baseball.
• Allows youngsters to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities.
PITCH: Throw pitches at a designated "Strike Zone" target.
HIT: Hit from a stationary tee for distance and accuracy.**
RUN: Run from second base to home plate for time.**
*Boys & girls compete together in four age groups: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14. Age is
determined as of July 17, 2008.
**Hit and Run events use conversion tables to convert distance and time into a composite
point total.
HOW FAR CAN YOU ADVANCE?
Four levels of competition include:
• LOCAL: SUNDAY April 6 to start at Noon. (Rain out Date SUNDAY April 15)
• (HOSTED BY GRANDVIEW LITTLE LEAGUE)
Youngsters MUST first participate at the Local level of competition.
All-Around, Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions in each age group
advance.
• SECTIONAL: May 15 - June 1(DATES NOT YET DETERMINED)
All-Around Champions in each age group within the top four scorers of all
sectionals within each MLB geographic market advance.
All 30 Major League Baseball teams have been broken down into geographic
markets.
• TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: June Weekends(DATES NOT YET DETERMINED)
All-Around Champions in each age group within the top four scorers of all 30
Team Championships advance.
• NATIONAL FINALS: July 13 - 15
The National Finals will take place in New York, NY. during the 2008 All-Star
Week.
PRIZES/AWARDS
• All youngsters competing at the Local level receive an item for their participation.
• Medals are awarded to age group champions.
• National Finalists receive a trip to New York for the 2008 All-Star Game.
