Are games being played today. This website really lacks information about the ballpark. I am assuming no games today because of the weather, but it would be nice to know for sure. Tried calling but message has not been updated on phone since April 1.

My issue is with the paying of the umpires for the Intermediate boys. If I have to give $1.00 a game to pay the umpire that will be $20. At registration everyone else only has to pay a $10 umpire fee......Does anyone else not understand that logic??? It really bugs me!!!!!!

At the Intermediate level is is supposed to be volunteer umpires.

Hello everyone, This is Chester Rice.  I will address the umpires for the intermediate boys issue since I am directly involved with it.  I am the one after getting the approval of the player agents and coaches for the Western League, Intermediate Boys Baseball and Girls Softball Leagues who got the High School Baseball Players to work your games.  Unfortunately they are not free.  They accepted a fair price of $20.00 per game.  This is the appropriate price for using high school boys.  I conducted a rules meeting with them as well and am in daily contact with them discussing situations that need to be discussed or clarified.  Granted the above mentioned leagues  do not get charged umpire fees at sign up as umpires for these leagues are suppose to on a strickly volunteer basis only.  This doesn't and hasn't worked very well in the past as parents don't want to umpire and usually hide out in the parking lot until after the game has started. At some point in time during the season some team is crying foul for umpire bias or crying that the volunteer umpire doesn't know the rules.  I don't know about the bias part but I do know that the volunteer umpires used doesn't know the rules as they are doing it solely because the coach asked them too and we as league don't train them to. Grandview Little League doesn't pay for umpires in the lower leagues and won't.  It has been a problem for the 3 years that I've been on the board.  Granted Grandview Little League charges $10.00 per kid that plays in the major boys baseball and girls softball; junior boys baseball; and senior boys baseball and girls softball but it's not enough to pay the umpires for those leagues for the entire league year.  In the majors the umpires are paid $30.00 per game and in the junior and senior leagues the umpires get paid $40.00 per game.  The $10.00 per game charge is not enough to cover all the umpire fees for the entire league year and is usually subsidized with 50/50 drawings and profits from the grill or concession stand.   I am willing to train anyone who wants to volunteer to officiate baseball and or softball games in an effort to get trained volunteers to umpire.  Are any of you willing to take that challenge? I would like a group of adult volunteer officials that I can train and assign games to.  After all Little League is all about volunteerism.  Are you ready to accept that challenge ?  If you are I will help.  Thanks for your time and interest folks.

All games are posted or called in at 265-7772 its hard to take care of 8 feilds we post rain outs at 4:00 everyday there is a rain out and 90 percent of the time the web is updated the night before. We can only do so much in a day.  The umpire fee is very resonable you might want to take Chester up on his offer and come down Sat mornings about 6:30 and Sun mornings and jump in on the grounds crew we can allways use some exstra help it would free us up a little more and we could update the web and the phone messages.

I have tried to volunteer to help out, I have spent many hours in the concession stand when no one else would. And I also have tried to help on with the web site but was told there was one person who did that. When the forecast says it will be 35 degrees at 8:00am maybe the games could be called the night before just to make it a little easier on everyone. Example this Friday night the forecast was cold temps into the night and early morning yet the games were not called until 7:00. The umpire thing will also be an issue, yesterday the senior girls afternoon game was late because the umpire did not show, and they are suppose to be paid, scheduled umpires. We had to get a volunteer from the crowd. I know it is not easy I have been there for years and have worked because I wanted too. I would like to thank you for all you do. If every parent (mom or dad, grandparent,etc) would give a few hours each week or even each season that would help out alot. But some just want to complain.

Is there a place on this web site we can find out who the player agents are this year. Seems like there is a lack of information on this website. Web sites should have contact information. Seems like a few years ago there was another site that had a lot of info and was very helpful, what happened to that?

Regarding weather issues, let's try to get the temperature at the BALL PARK not at your house or at the airport.  It's gotta be 20 degrees colder at the ball park.

Scorekeepers should sit together in the press box so they don't have to run back and forth with changes, etc. and to keep better track of pitch counts.

Thanks for posting team names and player agents, how about coaches and other board members? It would be nice to see schedules too.

Lucy - ground rules allow us to play at temperatures of 40 degrees or above, including windchill at the ballpark. Games are to be called by board members at the ballpark, unless in cases of day long raining.

How do we find out about games being called. We are suppose to have our first games today and the forecast is for a high of 40. The forecast all week has been a cold and maybe raining Saturday they could of called them last night. I heard they don't even have uniforms in yet so I guess it is a good thing we may not be playing. We will have to see what the temp is at game time I guess. Would be nice if they would post info here.

One more thing why don't you take the stuff off the web site that is over a year old and put up current things? What a poor website no info on games or the ball park.

Where is all the information on Opening Ceremonies, concession stand duties, and pictures? Can not find it any where on the site. Coachs are not always available to answer all questions. Would be nice if the site was up to date with this information so that it could be access by all.

The board has decided to use a different web site guy.  He thinks he knows what kind of information the parents want, he is wrong.  Unless you have a boy in baseball don't expect to find much useful info on the site. You can say all you want about wanting schedules, concessions schedules, picture day etc... and other useful stuff.  Just be ready to watch U tube vidoes and memories for you???

Any word on todays games...the weather looks to be cold and wet...?

Well it would be nice to have the schedules on this web site. Like I said alot of stuff on here only pertains to a certain group. Its all about who you are.

A list would be nice on the website just go on a Saturday and go to the concession stand and have them page the league president Richard Dicks he has been on the board forever, there are some newer ones but some have been there a long time.

Really folks if you have time to look on the websight then you should have time to volunteer at the little league then you have control of fixing everything that you complain about.  If not please don't criticize the volunteer work of others.  if you are interested contact Richard Dicks and let him know that you are wanting to help and be on the board.

CUBSWIN: Just to let you know I have volunteered there for years and still would except for the time when I couldn't help out and someone made me feel like crap about it and seemed like it was excepted me to be there. I am not complaining just want GVLL information on the website like schedules and other information. Youtube videos of snow in other places is not GVLL information.

Again we aren't paid, step up to the plate and volunteer to take care of the website.

Maybe you didn't read my post I volunteered for years and have said I would help with the website with posting scores and information but was told only certain people could update it. I know very well you are not paid, spent many days and nights down there because I wanted to do it. But the day I got bitched at for not being able to help was the day I said enough and I am not the only one that happened too. Just would like more updated info. that all.

I think a person well trained in ESP would have an advantage.

but there sure a nice u tube videos on the site, made by a board member who never seemd to get to his duty, but plenty of time filling the site with information special to some while be very non informational for others.

yes mommy I totally agree.  a league site you would think containt, league schedules, concession schedule, batting cage schedules, rain out info all star championship game times and places we could go just on a on but seems like no one is listening.  Maybe some day we will win some special u tube award???

Was on the board for a while until I didn't agree with a few things. Then was made to feel like I should not have my own ideas just follow the way of the others.

I just looked at a blog from April 10 from cubswin to contact Richard Dicks that I want to be on the board - hmmm - well I'm still waiting for the return call!!  Enough said.  Like I said before, the current board must go.  One cannot follow bad leadership.  Better things are yet to come to Grandview!

I spent 12 years on the board and just having good ideas and being willing to put them in place.  First of all you need to try and convince the select few it will benefit them if not you will be forced out either by being accused by someone for stealing money, or you failed to stroke someones echo to keep you around.  Been there see it all FIRST hand and like most post I see here there are correct.  And I am betting OLDTIMER is one of the people on the crusade to remove current board members that do not share his same cheating ways.  Just a thought

bronczfan, I have been here just as long and don't have kids even playing so My "agenda" is to run a league that benifits the kids. hell, my own kids have been wronged before however I have to lover ook over that and move on for the better of the whole league, not justs best for me.  I will agree some folks have their own adgends but for the most part it works for the whole. Sorry, But we can't always We can't please eveyone when you have 1000 + kids. Your bet would be wrong on my agenda however there are several board members who did not work their board duties that I WILL be making sure don't come back or get teams!!

I would like to get information on whether Grandview will be holding a Fall League this season. If so when will it start, who is contact and register person, and what will cost be? I hope all had a decent season this spring.
