best ideas are those that  someone will follow through with. Great idea so join the board and let us see what you can do.

Oldtimer, better idea - join our Parents Organization.  You sound like someone we could work with.  And then we can follow through with the Mission of Little League:  "... assist youth in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork, and physical well-being.  By espousing the virtues of character, courage, and loyalty ..."  Sadly, this mission has been lost by a few misguided, power-hungry "leaders."  It is time for new leadership.  The best is yet to come to Grandview!

how is the board decided? do ya just show up and you are on it or what? I have never heard of any election for it. I have heard people say join but are those in charge elected or just given the position by those already on it?

    2009-06-16 09:59:16.0

We used to have an annual vote however due to a LACK of volunteers we have invited anyone wh owil lsigh up to be on the board the past few years.

I don't want this to be any agenda, ie. the parents organagation. Believe me we have had that before an it only destroys the league and hurts the kids, regardless of your intentions. It took us many years finiancailly to make it back. We have a board and it needs to continue to stay that way. If you have issues then join i tand help right any wrongs that way.

A board is good but maybe it is time for some new leadership. Others have tried but been pushed away.

Oldtimer:  Have you ever given it any thought about why Grandview Little League has a lack of volunteers ?  Give it some thought just for a second or two.  Grandview Little League has a hiss-torrr-ry of discarding and chasing away perfectly good volunteers for whatever the reasons are.  It's all about League Politics,  Egos, Power, and control.  Mission Statement, Comlying with Grandview Little League Constitution and Bylaws, Playing by the rules, etc.. doesn't seem to matter and never will.   For your information the League is doing a good job of destroying itself.  If you call the League onto the carpet for making them comply with rules and regulations then for one reason or another you are blackballed or labeled as a troublemaker.  YOU know what I don't miss that one damned bit.

Big Blue: Good point on your part and I agree. We have chnased away many good volunteers over the years however its not the folks who are complaining now. I try to move past those liminted egos, power control folks and work for the better of the whole league. Maybe tahts wrong to you but at least Iam doing somthing instead of quitting.

So here we have oldtimer the 1 board member is has a conscience.  No way.  He is probably the one who makes the rules he sees fit.  Changes whatever Little League rules that may or may not apply to him or his team.  Then when the rules created benefit some one else.  Lets hurry and try to change the rules.  It happens all the time.  Maybe the Junior county coaches who decided to take other players instead of their team should be call out by name Harry and maybe be restricted from getting anymore teams.

    2009-06-19 20:20:22.0

Oldtimer:  I didn't quit.  I was told by the league and Richard Dicks that I would never, ever be on the board again. Wow what power.  Wow what control.  I a little league volunteer was fired !!!  How about that a volunteer fired !! HaHa.   I asked for a proper league investigaton but was denied one as I believe that Richard Dicks didn't want to find out the truth as it would only support my position rather than the position of a few power hungry win at all costs individuals at Grandview Little League.  This was all based upon lies, inundos, and inaccurate accusations by some board members who have a win at all cost attitude.  I have witnesses as proof to defend my position as the truth and Richard Dicks knows this.  My witnesses were prepared to come forward to those who wished to listen and Richard Dicks also knows this too.  Pursuant to the Grandview Little League Constitution and Bylaws I had a right to face the board however due to the hostile climate of the board I chose to just let it go as I felt that I was facing a hostile crowd especially after the violence and vandalism that was perpetrated against me and my family by some of the Grandview Little League Family and yes I can prove that as I filed a police report when it occurred.  And so I just moved on.  It was just a matter of time anyway as my friends told me.  I didn't want to believe it but now I do. I was wronged and hurt by the Grandview Little League Family.   And so theSaga Continues.....

Oldtimer for your information: I am still involved in Little League as another Little League(s)  has wholeheartedly and gladly embraced my Little League Volunteerism.   Grandviews loss is another Little League(s)  gain.  I am also a volunteer for the District and Region as well.

let me get a few things pointed out about the Junior Braves..... Harry was not the manager of the team that would be Karen Kramer  and the reason why we picked up three kids to play with us is because we were told that our 15 year olds could not play it was only for 13 and 14 year olds, so in return we were told to pick up three to make us have 9 we did not take any extra.  Sorry that you people are so hung up on this move on.

    2009-06-22 12:09:46.0

and I suppose they also didn't know that if you pick a kid up from a different team, they are not allowed to pitch during the county game even though he has been coaching there for years

    2009-06-22 16:15:35.0

you know i'm tired if this why don't you contact the two admimistrators for the district that i had spoken to one is Larry sellers and the other one is Jim Stockbauer.  They would be happy to tell you what they told me.

Big Blue, I caught the Senior County Championship game the other game.  You and Bill called an excellent game.  Its a shame Grandview Richard/Harry had to run you off.  I guess if they could not get you to side with them or as they say "if you are not with them you are are against them"  whether it be lying and/or cheating to get the win. Thanks for your volunteer service.

    Bronczfan,

If you are so unhappy at GVLL why are you there?  let me give you a little information about the two people that you keep mentioning Richard has been there for ever, kids love him, he has coached alot of boys and helped them succeed in alot of ways.  And Harry has coached there for 20 years he has helped kids from all over.  Kids call him at home and ask him to help with pitching, batting and anything else ( that is what is about).  He has encouraged kids to try out for High School ball when they did not think they could make the team, and now there is a few of them that went on to college and is playing at that level those are the kids that still come to his house and thank him for what he has done for them.  So my point is keeping you happy is not important... but helping a child succeed is.

    2009-06-23 14:58:34.0

I agree with cubswin, however, that would have been great if my child was able to call up Harry and get individual help with pitching and batting, etc. when the coach wasn't able to provide that individual time with him.  Was that available to all of the kids, or was it just a matter of who you knew???  I'm thinking certain kids have special privileges because of who their parents know.....and that is probably how the all stars are picked.  I think GVLL is a good place, we've had many positive experiences and some not so positive, which i'm sure you'd find wherever you go. But, one more point...if someone could answer...i know of a boy who was picked for the all star 12 yr old and will not be able to play if they make it to the championship game (i think that's the only game he won't be able to play in, but not sure)BECAUSE he does not live in the district.  Now, we live in the district, so how does that justify that this boy has to sit and my son could actually be playing in the game because we live in the district.  Is the message from GVLL that, yes you can play on our league even if you are out of the district, but when it comes to the all stars and if your chosen then you have to sit if you're out of district because NOW they will follow the little league rules.  Can someone explain this??

im new do this whole blogging thing but i have read alot of these postings and the one that really draws me in the most is the parents who think there kid should of been on the allstar team. bluejay4 who do you think your kid is better then that is on the 12 yr old allstar team??? if your going to blog about it and complain let just come out from around the bushes and say it.. i would challenge you to tell me who he is better than.  and as far as the district rule goes if you have ever lived in the grandview district and played ball for grandview you get grandfathered in. so if you lived in grandview district for yrs and played for grandview the whole entire time just because you move doesnt mean you have to change little leagues. i get tired of hearing parents complain about there kid should of been on the allstar team.

    2009-06-27 02:17:41.0

Has he also been bending the league rules and Little League rules for for the past 20 years as well? From where I see it he has spent the last few years running off good people who don't agree with his ways.  Bluejays4 as for your concern with the league boundaries, players both boys and girls should not be permitted to even sign up at Grandview to play if they do not reside in boundaries.  Grandview boundaries are clearly defined prior to any signups being taken. The 12 y/o All-Star manager had to of known the boy did not live in the boundaries , but like most All-Star coaches in that age group, with their win at all cost mentalilty they will try their best to get him passed through and then complain about other leagues in the district that do the same thing.  It's a shame for the child, maybe some of the responsibility should be thrown back on the coach and the league.
