I really like the Greener One website, and I just signed up!

I do have a couple of "feedback" opinions though.

#1: When you sign up, there's no verification. I accidentally used up 2 different sign-on names because I didn't realize the first one went through. Very easy to sign up, but it doesn't tell you that your name has been activated at all.

#2: It would be nice if there was a way for users to just create a new product. As the website is now (being new and all), the only way to get a new product added is to submit it to the "powers that be". I have a lip balm sitting in front of me right now that is just jumping at the chance to be entered, it would be nice if it didn't need to be submitted to the webmasters.

We're working on the verification. We actually were trying to make registration be very easy and to not take away from the experience of browsing or contributing on Greener One -- but I can see from your comments, and from re-registering myself under a different name -- that there is not enough confirmation to let you know that something has happened. I would love to know what you would have expected to happen so that we can better design this.

Regarding your second point, did you go ahead and add the lip balm using the Suggest a Product page? http://www.greenerone.com/products/suggestproduct

We use this just to help ensure that we don't have duplicates on the site and so that products get categorized in a consistent way. Out of curiosity, which lip balm are you looking at, and what information would you like to add about it?  In addition to adding new products and categories, we're also looking to add and refine our attribute questions for our product categories.

As far as verification for registration, I guess I kind of expected to be taken to a different page after I signed up, maybe the home page or something? I've registered on a lot of sites, and usually you're either taken to the home page, a login page, or a page that says to wait for an activation e-mail.

I did put a suggestion in for the lip balm. I do see your point about having duplicates, it could get pretty crazy if everyone was allowed to add items on their own. The lip balm that I'd like to add is Alba Hawaiian lip balm. I'll keep sifting through the site to see if there's anything I can contribute to, but so far, I haven't found many products that I use. I'll keep using that Suggest a Product page.

I appreciate the constructive feedback! Always a help to hear good ideas, what works, and what doesn't. We're working on the verification email and flow, so this was great timing. And would you believe it -- I have the Alba Hawaiian on my desk in front of me too!

I just got the Alba Hawaiian, and I really like it! It's got a great flavor.

I've sent off a few e-mails to manufacturers, so I'll be contributing as soon as I get some replies!
