This is an old one that I have used for many years.
2 Crushed cloves of garlic.
½ tsp ground ginger.
Pinch of cayenne pepper.
1 tble spoon honey.
Juice of 1 lemon.
Part of the lemon rind. (grated)
Boiling water.
Place all the ingredient's in a mug and pour over hot water, and drink as hot as possible. (preferably at bed time)
This will make you sweat, so in cold weather keep yourself warm.
The theory behind it is, that the Garlic has an antibiotic effect, the ginger soothes the stomach, the cayenne acts as a thereputic dose of vitamin C, whilst the lemon and honey act to soothe the inflamed membranes of the nose and throat.
It's an old one but it works for me.
No doubt you could use fresh ingredients, ie, fresh ginger, and chilli. I have been meaning to try it with the fresh ingredients but have never got around to it. Anyway when you are sick you don't feel like shopping, and most homes would have ground ginger and cayenne.
This has a very interesting, (but not unpleasant) taste to it.

Well as you probably know, there are both good and bad types of Cholesterol......
What does 'good' and 'bad' cholesterol mean?
Cholesterol, like fat, cannot move around the body in the blood on its own. That's because fat does not mix with water, the major ingredient of blood. So it hitches a ride with some proteins, called lipoproteins.
There are several types of lipoproteins: very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL); low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and high-density lipoproteins (HDL).
VLDLs are made in the liver and their job is to carry fats to different parts of the body. Once they drop off some of their fat load, they become LDLs, which carry the remaining cholesterol around the body. LDL has been dubbed the ‘bad’ cholesterol, and it's important to have low levels of low-density lipoprotein.
HDL, on the other hand, carries cholesterol back to the liver. It is therefore called ‘good’ cholesterol, and you want to have high levels of high-density lipoprotein in your blood as a kind of cholesterol police, picking up the bad cholesterol.

The bottle of "wow" gathering dust
Never used Arnica pills, all I know is that arnica is a made from the yellow (daisy like) flowers and roots of the plant. (I think it is a native of Canada).
We used to use tincture of arnica for bruises etc, and I remember that it had to be well diluted before we used it, as it was very strong.
I have no experience with it being taken internally.
