I was 85kg for about 10 years.
When I came back from travelling I had a bit of a new lifestyle. 3 months later I was 80kgs and I haven't moved from it. Really easy to maintain.
Here's what I did;
That's it. Not hard and fast, just as often as I can. Some weeks better then others, but those 3 are the norm.
Good luck.
Don't you think the 5-kilo thing is funny. We all "want to lose 5 kilos". I'm the same.
And it's not rocket science but it does take discipline. That is where I am lacking. So, in a world first, I joined Weight Watchers at the weekend.
I lost heaps of weight gradually in NL but that's because I cycled and walked everywhere - not as ubiqtuous (spelt wrong I'm sure!) here. I also got sick all the time so had no appetite regularly (those European viruses are NASTY).
With Weight Watchers I get accountability once a week at a meeting and I have a bit of science behind it which I find fun and it appeals to my anal nature. Plus I like to measure and see results, it's the only way to foster my will and keep my enthusiasm up.
Anyway. My secret is exercise. If I have a meeting in Hornsby I try and ride. Last night I had some free time so rang a neighbour and we went for a twilight bushwalk. If we all go to the pool (family), I'll have 30 mins in the Olympic doing some laps while Phil has the kids. Ifeel better for it. More alert. Happier. More social etc...
My regime is based on every meal having points. I'm allowed 23 a day. Exercise gives me a bit more. I'm off to Melbourne for a chick's weekend so am putting lots of points in the bank to make up for all the indulgence I shall partake while there. Lots of cocktails at The Supper Club for example:D
Can I brag a bit? I lost 1.7 kilos this week. Very proud of myself.
Congrats!![]()
Nice one Kellie. Well done. Was it somethign particular, or the whole regime mentioned above.
Off to melbourne for a gals weekend so plan to plateau next week! But that's all OK. I feel like I deserve it. It's nice to know I can do it. Sometimes we don't think we have it in us and then we surprise ourselves.![]()
The regime. You can see how well you are doing each day. That "eggs you on". Also, the Japanese food is really helping.I can eat a meal and not feel hungry for a long while afterwards. I don;t have it every day but very second or so. Plus, exercise. Bike, walk, yoga.
I've also just found out that I can claim my joining fee back off Medibank Private (I get something called a Package Bonus) and it also covers yoga. Good hey?
I'm only human.... After my trip to Melbourne I am less gung-ho about my health kick and expect that I will have put it all back on!
Oh NO!!!
too much fun in Melbourne!
I know. I am so cynical about Weight Watchers. It encourages obsession about food which is not healthy.
Although I do wonder if I just use my cynicism as a cop-out!
I also signed up for a 12-week plan so have lots of time to muck about before getting serious. So many excuses!
I'm back on it. No more excuses. I want my pre-baby body back. Wish me luck.
Hmmmm well make sure you are not afraid of carbohydrates ... Eating more protein does seem to help keep weight down from the readings I have done also. Its mainly Sat fat that is the killer.
Oh and good luck Kasta
Other suggestions I just thought of while commenting about Tara. http://www.flickr.com/photos/missrogue/498389809/#comment72157600215490386
4. Walk lots and lots.
5. Take up a team sport. It's regular, fun, you meet people (offline) and you get fit too.
Hi there. I have not posted here for a while. I can report that my weight loss has been slow but continual. Sometimes I eat 'treats' and sometimes I have a few drinks. But I seem to have learned moderation. I also find that if I eat non-healthy food I can feel the effects immediately. I have also lost my intense hunger. I tend to just get hungry now and can eat less to satisfy myself. It is nice giving yourself time to implement change. You can be kinder to yourself and set more realistic goals. I still have not lost 5 kilos but have lost 4.5 and kept it off. I have been 'dieting' since around Feb...
