I tried GoDaddy and it was easy to begin with but then got painful. They tried to upsell me on my name.name about 5 times. Sucked.

Namesdirect is also pretty good. Much lighter.

I use Dotster. Have never had a problem, and they don't try to up-sell or cross-sell me all the time. I also use their front page as a time saver for checking domain name availability, and I use their DNS management service for my domains.

However, I'm not all that crash hot on their VPS hosting which I was a big fan of until recently. Apparently 24 hour turnaround on support requests when a site is down is within acceptable parameters...

    Namecheap is my favourite  http://namecheap.com

Been using them for a few years now, never had a problem.  Well, I did have one problem with a domain renewal, but their support team were quick to resolve it. :)  No up-selling, no nonsense, easy to use, and cheap!

Well if you are interested in a site that is awesome for finding new domain names, check out http://www.domainsbot.com

I would have to say it has some features that cant be beat for finding a new domain, and allows you to pick who you wish to register the domain with.

On a side note, you should be warry of checking domains on godaddy and other sites, because at least godaddy has been known to basically steal domain names you might check but not purchase right away. Keep it in mind.
