What you're looking at here is something called Tangler. It allows people, within a blog of any sort, to communicate with each other in real time, instead of the standard post/reply/reply format. It can be embedded into any website post, so you can turn comments off -- like I've done in my LJ post here.
I think this is a really useful thing, because it makes things more interactive, in a way. It allows for a more fluid collaboration process than an external forum -- not because it's actually all that different, but because it feels different.
Has anyone else used Tangler before? Any good/bad experiences with it?
Note to JL: Tangler and LJ don't get along - LJ doesn't pass along the active content for some reason. Delkrazee is looking into it.
So far, things are looking good, some people have problem connecting with Opera, but beside this everything seems to work smoothly (if a bit slowly sometimes)
