Fred's been a busy one lately. He's a serial moonlighter and is just finishing up writing an OpenSolaris packet driver for a new encryption product that will run on Solaris workstations. On the Java front, I'm refactoring a bunch of my employer's Java apps to make more use of Groovy. I'm way behind in my Erlang Dojo, but considering postponing Erlang for Scala.

On the personal side, one of my best mate's birthdays is on 9/11. Unfortunately, Michael passed away earlier this year. On Tuesday, in his honor, I will eat a hotdog. It may be the only one I eat this year.   Saturday was the local ALS chapter's annual fundraiser. I walked with a small group of friends and celebrated a beautiful life.

I went with my cousin, spouse and few friends to Shakori Hills for some live folksy music. Had my first go at drinking kava root. Blech..  Sorry Paula...

Finally, got a chance to spend an evening cookout with my brother-in-law who is headed out soon for his 2nd tour in Afghanistan after surviving 2 tours in Iraq. Worried about that one...

Watched the US NATs lose to Brasil, but still elated that my Railhawks are in the post season playoffs. That sets next weekend's agenda!
