Hi Prospect. Welcome to Tangler. I'm a Londoner. Born in Paddington, educated in London, worked in London but now living in Sydney. It's a great city and each time I return (as in fact I am later this month) I am reminded of that.

So hows Sydney treating you ?

Well, great time of year to be home. Too hot at the weekend at 35C but Bondi was great with water warmer than usual. Sometimes we get Antartic ice flow current run off of some such thing which drops the temperature too much.

Heaps of spiders in the garden dangling everywhere but most fairly harmless I'm told. Better the ones that dangle in webs howver alarming they look than the ones that jump out from behind logs.

I worked at a pub in Sutton Abinger once upon a time - in between Dorking and Guildford. Very pretty part of the world.

London born and raised (how english does that sound?!).  Living in Sydney now.  Prospect - I did my degree at Greenwich.  Are you at the old Royal Naval College campus? 

I used to work in Bracknell, Berks.  It was fun, and I particularly liked the justaposition of technology companies with the pub culture of the market towns like Wokingham.  It was great to grab a pint on the way home from work.

Always nice to grab a cheeky pint on the way home  (shame my office is my apartment these days!).  Still, the fridge is well stocked

Yeah, it was great.  There were three pubs on the way home.  My favourite was the Ship, a Fuller's house on the Bracknell side of Wokingham.  It was great to sit outside on a lovely spring day with a pint of London Pride.  We always used to whinge about the horrible weather in the UK, but a sunny spring day there is truly magnificent, like no where else.

Hope you get some spring weather soon!

Hey all-- I was wanted to live in London. What should I be doing now to adapt to UK's lifestyles. What should i look forward too when i go abroad next year.

Yeah... the summer here is really nice when it's deciding to be nice, but often a tad short... don't count on it by any means.

'tis not all rain and gloom, and the summer can be great weather, just unreliable... that's the real defining feature of British weather, unpredictability.

It will be fair to say JerSabugo there is probably little need to pack your surf board. On the plus side you will not feel compelled to wear any of those crazy Hawian get-ups.

What is an example of good whether. I will be going Aboard Spring 2009, I will be staying at the Roehampton University. How far is it from The Old Vic?

When the sun does shine in Britain it remains the world's finest sunshine - especially those wonderful summer evenings when it stays light until 10 pm.

The Old Vic is in central London not far from the South Bank of the Thames across Westminster Bridge from the Houses of Parliament.

..... is probably 30 minutes by direct rail link to Waterloo station which you can see above on the map. Taking the London Underground would take you atleast an hour.

I will also be in Sydney this upcoming summer for the World Youth Day 2008.  I am very excited and nervous at the same time.  what should i do to make my stay in australia pleasurable? what shall i prepare for? I know one thing for sure, it will be Winter there so that means i shall pack extra clothing.

Youth Day is in July, so yeah, it would probably be colder than what you might be used to. But it won't be freezing or anything.
