  • Pharmaceuticals

    Finally a little hope

How can pharmaceutical companies be persuaded to develop vaccines for
diseases of the poor, when poor people can't afford to buy them? The
not-for-profit Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) and
the World Bank have come up with a solution: rich countries should give
money to poor countries to pay for the vaccines in advance.

  • Why donate?

I'm curious about the motivations of people who give money to charities and also of people who don't.

I'm also curious if this is a trend which might subside. As far as I can remember, charity wasn't this big 10-15 years ago... nowadays, every MNC has their own, every disease has one, and you can find clones of each charity as well.

Is this just the thing to do right now? Or is it a genuine attempt at 'making the world a better place'?

  • Why do they do what they do?

My sis (aman) donates to a an animal charity.... (can't remember which one)

Anyways, what I don't understand is why they keep sending 'freebies' like cards and stickers.... I get something everytime they send a letter asking for more money.

    1. Why are they wasting their money on the 'freebies' instead of spending on the animals??
    2. Why don't they stop sending stuff after not getting any replies after a while??
I have stacks of these things, and I just can't find it in my heart to throw em away.... and no one i know wants them either.
