Guys, This is awesome. I had intended to get online tonight and spend a little time setting this up. Surprise, surprise, you've already started. Thanks heaps. I really appreciate it.

Loved the screencast. Very cool. I hadn't actually provided you with any visibility into the site or it's functionality, so it was really interesting watching someone stumble around (it gives a little insight into what others see).

It's always good to get feedback on colour and space and calls to action as well, so I take it all on board.

All positive - we have actually been holding off a little on the redesign of the front end for a couple of reasons; Firstly holding off on reworking the front end has allowed us to rework the backend a few times, as we evolve the flow a little trying to make things as simple as possible, and Secondly we have been a little selective about signups as we do not yet have the funding or the backing we require for the large scale promotions we would like to run.

We wanted to pick up a couple of hundred early adopters who would sign up just to check things out and hang around when they realised what they could do. This has worked a treat, and we've picked up a really good interactive bunch - or gang of mothers as you call them:) Functionality has really grown around what has been requested and suggested, and we are actually a lot further along than we expected to be before taking our bigger ideas to either angel funding or VC.

The toss up is always how far you take the functionality before you start cleaning up the front end and putting the time and money required into marketing your idea. More functionality means higher retention and interaction, better landing page means more signups. Although not really a toss up at all when you have time and money resources, it becomes a big deal when their are two of you designing, developing and community building, together with working full time jobs and raising a beautiful little girl.

There is a lot to come, and after having laid the foundation, it should be coming on pretty quickly. We have held off on anything and actually stripped down anything that would draw the kind of crowd that grows to quickly, such as widgets, aggregation, or rankings, and have put in place only simple photo album functionality in order to whet the appetite.

We did add the ability for mumspacers to create groups (shared blog/photo album etc), and the ability to add discussion forums to those groups, but only because  key members were asking for that functionality, and only because by adding it we were helping them extend their business in a way that they would not have been able to otherwise.

I look forward to being able to show off the rest, and I'd love to put up another screen cast when we redo the front end if possible. It'd be great to see where we came from and how we developed.

Thanks for putting this together. This is such a great resource, and once I get off dialup (I moved house yesterday), I think you just gained yourself a very active member.

Pierre - You the man! Wouldn't have been the same without the french accent saying blah blah blah:)
