anybody implemented open ID - just interested in how hard it is
dick --- great presenter, to bad the business isn't going to well anymore
I think this would be hard to get it to the masses.
i think you need browser integration
imagine if i could create my profile in firefox, fill in all my details - add pics and preferences, and then be able to selectively share that with web sites (up pops a "authenticate with this site" dialog)
then you could configure providers, with anti-spoofing right within a trusted browser.
problem is they may need someone to trust like their ISP or microsoft, but that won't work.
i think people will trust their browser
definitely see an issue with our linkedin members "getting" openID
and this ties to the whole movement toward 'producers' rather than consumers of the internet. The whole issue is there IS no personal production base. Servers and services aren't ours, they belong to the service providers and are beyond our control no matter how great their intentions. Identity, profile info, even photos, are something that is best 'served' from a secure domain, and the only place for that right now is your PC (and hence your browser). It'll happen slowly though.
</soapbox>
OpenID v2.0 will allow much tighter integration with the browser; you could actually use your browser as the identity provider. The bummer here is that the users need to install a piece of software to make it happen. That's fine for those of us in this room, but what if you use multiple computers? Having it as a web service helps alleviate that problem. Maybe hooking the browser to some identity provider web service would work? Dunno.
Couple of links:

thanks
To make them clickable you have to use the little chain icon (for now - it's on the list......)
i just noticed that ... :-)
Also your html </shameless plug> won't work. I'm not a programmer, but I'm pretty sure that's actually not real code anyway!
