OK, I don't own an iPhone yet... someone who has one please give me some real world feedback (and include what type of device you came from).

For me it's either an iPhone or an HTC Kaiser, since I'm currently KJam/Tytn user.

Hey Marty. I bought the iPhone the day after it went on sale. I expected that the iPhone would have sold out on the first day due to limited quantities, but to my surprise there seemed to be more then what had been predicted.

Before the iPhone I had several different phones made by a variety of manufactures including the Razo, Treo, Nokia E62 and Nokia N800. I thought the Razo was ok, but it was difficult to TXT and use to surf the web. I used a Treo for 6 months and hated every minute of it. The only positive thing I can say about the Treo is the full keyboard made TXT easier and faster. I would never recommend a Treo to anyone. I enjoyed the Nokia's large and crisp color screen and call quality was pretty good and the surfing the web was easier too, but the OS was so S... L... O... W it was painful. It's sad when I can type faster on the keyboard then the phone can display on the screen.

After two solid months of using the iPhone I must say that my experience of using a phone has completely changed for the better. This experience is what the other phone manufactures should have been providing to its customers. Some of my favorite features are having one device that I has my music, a video or two, contact, email etc. The experience of using a Mac computer has been translated to the cell phone and I can honestly say that using the iPhone is a joy. It makes me happy to use it. That said, there is some room for improvement and adding features that should have been part of the original release of the iPhone. The iPhone's keyboard is going to take some getting use to. There is no tactile feedback and you must learn to "trust" the phone is going to spell words correctly, which it hard to do when trying to adapt to the keyboard. What helped me get use to typing and sending long email or TXT messages was to stop looking at the message and just concentrate on the keyboard and letting the phone auto correct rather then trying to backspace and correct. I would love to see Apple add Task list that intergrated with iCal or OutLook. I can't believe that Apple released a product like this with out a Task list. The other application that has to be added is iChat. Again this should have been included when it was released. I know that there are web based applications out there that fill my needs, but I really want it as an application on my iPhone.

I finally bought one (but for my wife). She's basically been using it non-stop since she got it!

It really is an amazing device and I have to say that the niggle annoyances just pale in comparison to what this thing can do. Email, web, phone, ipod... jeesh.

There are still MAJOR security issues, and I'm starting to believe that I shouldn't recommend it to anyone who uses it for serious business stuff.

i came from a treo 650 and a samsung i600, both real qwerty devices.

the virtual keypad of the ipone will take getting used to. i noticed it 'remembered' some of the new words i used.

im quite settled with the keypad right now.

camera can be sluggish and sensitive to presses. also, good lighting is required since you cannot change seetings with the camera.

touch screen for browsing, reading, zooming, playing games works like a charm.

for battery life, it hasn't lasted me more than a day since i use the ipod and wifi often. i bring the charger almost always so it's no issue.

lastly, i was able to sync to itunes (win xp) around twice before. lately the pc has been showing blue screens when i plug in the iphone. it first detects it as a Digital Camera, then the screen goes blue.

somehow i feel its the pc, so in spite of this, im still happy with the phone
