What is Jyte?
It's a tool from the Janrain, myopenID boys and is a quick way to get opinions on questions. You ask a question and people say I agree or not.
Another short talk about it here;
It is such a simple yet strange concept I find....
What I'm interested in is what the 'raters' motivations are. Why would I keep rating others claims? Especially when some of the claims I saw were.... well.... ridiculous
What is the aim of Jyte?
It would be cool if there was a way to interact and leave comments.... I'm sure we'd see some all out sludge matches over certain claims!
heheheheh
dekrazee1 - Hey there mate!
Jyte, to me, is a site to gather some kind of insight in to your personal view in politics/philosophy/religion/whatever... but only really works if you are honest in your votes.
I also believe you can comment on individual 'claims' =)
But how can you gather any insight just by polls? It's not like you'll change your opinion just because people voted you down..... right?
Which is why I said it'd be good to have comments etc
I can see comments on there...
???
I would find the site more compelling if it worked the other way - that is, discussions about topics with add-ons like voting... I am not really sure that I would visit the site to vote on all these arbitrary topics...
If you had discussion about topics along with addons, that would just be a forum.
The idea of Jyte I believe is to keep it fast and simple (think Twitter philosopy), and I think it really works well. It's a good 'for fun' product.
Well I like it anyway. ![]()
Wow this is awesome that a Jyte group is here on Tangler, thanks for getting it started. If anyone is interested in speaking directly with the jyte developers you can contact them on Pibb.
I will let them know about this group as well, though Pibb will probably be the best place to get in touch with them
KFox - out of interest, why have the team 'chosen' Pibb over tangler? Or do they serve different purposes for you? =)
I can't speak directly for the Jyte team, but I'm willing to bet that the reason is because Pibb is a Janrain owned site (the company that makes Jyte) while Tangler is not. Also, Pibb uses OpenID while Tangler is still stuck in the dark ages of Username/Password authentication.
No offence to the Janrain guys, but personally, I like Tangler better. (despite the U/P unplesantness)
is there anything specific about tangler that you like over Pibb?
duck1123 - Thanks, didn't know that!
KFox - I understand the question wasn't directed at me, but it seems hard to find existing rooms on Pibb. Now browse function or anything?
Hi Matt, we are working on a channel directory, as of today if you search from the dashboard for the topic you are interested you will get to see all the channels. The Jyte chan on Pibb is Jyte, alternatively you can do a content search for Jyte and see all the channels that have had Jyte mentioned in them before. my openid is kfox.myopenid.com, feel free to add me to your contacts and say hello. If I am online I will be more than happy to help show you around
